Software Engineer Intern Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate
New York, NY (US)

I applied online and the process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at Yodle in March 2014.

Interview Details Completed the Juggle fest program in C++. I received an email a few days later for a phone interview. The phone interview was easy. I was then given a 2 hour coding challenge to do in java. It was sent to me late but I still finished early. Never got any response back and it's been 2 weeks.

I applied online and the process took 3 days - interviewed at Yodle in October 2013.

Interview Details I filled out an application online for Senior Software Engineer In Test. There was a link to try some puzzles that would get you to the top of their queue. I solved the puzzles and got an email several days later from an internal recruiter. The position that she interviewed me for turned out to be a regular Software Engineer position, not the QA position I had applied to. They said they were looking for smart programmers and did not care what languages candidates had experience in.

Software Engineering Manager Interview

Interview Details I had 2 phone calls with a recruiter. The first was more of an informational session where we discussed the company and details about the position available. The second was a more formal interview/phone screening. The recruiter asked some technical questions as part of the process.

Interview Question – I found the following question a bit unusual, in that it was fairly... Can you create a hash from a tree.   Answer Question

Performance Marketing Analyst Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate

I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Yodle in May 2013.

Interview Details I interviewed with Yodle and the VP interviews you first. She asks behavioral questions. Then you will meet with the Reporting Manager, just depends on who you get, because they seem to have their own style. I am more than qualified for opportunities in online marketing. The only thing for the Charlotte Office is that they seem to only hire the MAJORITY. If you walk around the office, everyone is of the same race. This exists in a city that is 40% minority. How is that possible? It's possible because if you dare list a college that is a HBC on your resume they won't call you - regardless of your experience level. If you take the HBC off your resume, they will call you. Bottom line is I think they have a racist hiring process. How else can you explain the demographics of the Charlotte Office.

Interview Question – The questions aren't difficult. It's getting them to look past one's skin color in order to be given a fair chance.   View Answers (2)

Yodle/Software Developer Interview

Interview Details They have two programming exercises, the harder one is a programming challenge where you have to place jugglers in their preferred circuits. I spent a few hours programming it and got the correct solution, and you e-mail your solution and resume to the e-mail address based on your answer. The e-mail just goes straight to HR, you don't bypass them. All I got was a disinterested reply saying they'll pass my resume to managers and see if there's any interest. You don't get an automatic interview as the challenge sort of implied. Oh well.

Software Engineer Interview

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Yodle in March 2012.

Interview Details I applied online and got my resume to the top of the stack by solving programming problems they have posted on their website.
Interviewer called me soon after for interview.

Asked me some pretty basic stuff, but then asked me if I was "ready" to move to Manhattan. He seemed fixated on the fact that since I had never lived in the area before, that I wasn't educated enough (in terms of the area) to really move there and said I needed to do more research. He seemed to concentrate more on that than the technical questions, which were mostly easy.

Interview did not call back after that.

Interview Details Applied online and then was contacted by recruiter. A few rounds of phone interviews, a relatively online programming test, followed by an on-site interview in New York. On-site interview consisted of obvious technical/whiteboard design questions, a simple programming test on one of their machines, lunch with two developers,. meeting their CTO.
