ProsNice facilities, some good perks if you are in the Huntsville office (on-site gym and nurse). Traditionally, they were a stable place and rather laid back.

ConsThere is no clear direction coming from management and the only thing that seems to matter is the Wall St bottom line. Everyone is overworked and being tasked to do more with less. Morale is pretty shot.

Advice to Senior ManagementCome up with a clear vision to take the company forward. Invest in your people, new technology, new ideas to turn the company around.

– I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

ProsClean buildings and very laid back company.

ConsManagement and HR are inconsistant with the company policy. The policy is what ever they want it to be at any given time and with any given employee. The maufacturing management team will not stand up for you,or at least not some. Management both manufacturing and HR are not very professional, but yet they tell you that you need to be. Management talks bad about other comnpanies and they have not worked anywhere but ADTRAN, so how do they know. Not professional in my opinion. Some managers hide information from the employees because they do nopt want the employees to use the program.

Advice to Senior ManagementAll managers should have the same policy. You work for the same company. Stop hideing information from the employees. Be honest with your employees. They help the company make money.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

ProsThe schedule is flexible and there is a lot of available vacation and sick leave. The benefit package is reasonable for the current market but not excellent. They recently put a fitness center in the corporate HQ office which is fantastic. The office facilities are excellent. Most of the people here are great.

ConsThere is not a clearly defined or articulated strategic direction coming from senior management to the company. It feels that we are living "quarter to quarter" in order to satisfy Wall Street instead of trying to meet quantifiable 1-, 3-, 5- and 10- year objectives. The compensation packages do not match work performed or equivalent positions in the market. Staff resources are not allocated adequately in any departments, requiring everyone to do at least double the normal or reasonable load and even pick up work that other groups should be handling. We are stretched thin and everyone is constantly working at a high pace and at a high anxiety level.

Advice to Senior ManagementDevelop and communicate a strategy and direction for the company. Invest in staff resources to support those objectives. Reward your staff with compensation, promotions, etc.

ProsThe general environment is very positive and the work is rewarding. The campus is beautiful, and the benefits are good.

ConsThere is no path for advancement and the salary is not competitive. Last year's raises were lousy despite stellar company performance.

Prosfantastic offices and equipment
knowledgeable tech staff

Consgreedy management-- stock options no longer given to non-managers
poor raises in the midst of booming business
only hire new grads for the most part

Place has went downhill since Mark Smith died. Mark spread the wealth among his engineers. Current Sr leadership acts like they alone make Adtran successful.

Advice to Senior ManagementRe-adopt Mark Smith management. Give ISO again. Give better raises. Hire people so that short-handed dept workers don't have to be at work more than at home.
