I have been working at AmerisourceBergen

    Pros

Great employees. Very friendly to each other.

    Cons

IT being outsourced to other countries. Many folks worked for a US company for years to make it great and then get let go.

    Advice to Management

The Golden Rule... learn it, use it and support America at the same time

    Pros

Very relaxed company. Just get all your work done and if you want to do more that's up to you.

    Cons

It can get really boring. Depending on the team you work for there can be outbound or inbound calls. Some teams are more call center like but not all.

    Advice to Management

Be nice to the people on your team and don't ask too much if you don't pay them accordingly.

    Pros

The leadership outside of IT seems solid and has a great plan to move the company forward. The stock has been steadily improving under the recent CEO. They are aggressive in acquisitions and divestitures and have a talent for picking winners.

    Cons

The IT group has been in a steady state of flux and chaos for the past 3 years. As previous reviewers have pointed out it's very much a clique and that is how you get promoted. There are no solid leaders. A good policy to follow if hired is keep your head down, and meld in with the pack. Resistance is futile.

    Advice to Management

Look at talent and experience, and get rid of the good ol' boy network that play follow the leader. Unbiased eyes will drive the company to even greater heights.

Non-Competitive Pay. Mom and Pop company that gained corporate status by dumb luck.

    Pros

Good benefits. Stream Line industry. Will always do well because of the product they sell.

    Cons

Clickish. No career path infrastructure in place.

    Advice to Management

Hire and retain extraordinary talent, not friends. Unless of course your friends are talented.

    Pros

Great work environment and job satisfaction as you know you are really helping someone. You learn the ins and outs of the pharmaceutical industry.

    Cons

People are promote because of their connections not qualifications. Lots of micromanaging, no flexibility for employees to work from home.

    Advice to Management

Promote talent from within, people who have worked there should be given an interview. Candidates should not be presented because they know someone but based on their qualifications.

    Pros

Food from time to time and extra pay if you hit your numbers

    Cons

Would change you schedule at the drop of a dime and you had to be ok with it. They gave horrible raises. You will work EVERY SUNDAY

    Advice to Management

Stop treating the order fillers like crap. Get the moral of the people up if you want more productivity and pay people what there worth.

    Pros

Huge opportunity for global expansion & great passionate people. Vision is fantastic!!!

    Cons

Still operating like it's a small company. IT department is one of the worst I've ever seen and maturely level of program/project management and issue resolution ranks at the bottom of the companies I've worked for.

No roles and responsibility clearly defined... 5 people doing one job and 1 person doing 5... I also was told that issues are not publicly discussed. As a Program Manager I don't know how to do my job if that is true!

    Advice to Management

Sometimes it's OK to let Laggards go... we're a margin company and yet we don't have focus on efficiency or collaboration which results in cost negative results. We need to stop behaving like we're a garage company.

    Pros

Staff understands work-life balance, really decent human beings.
Business has been growing substantially within the past year.

    Cons

IBM Consultants take up a whole floor of one building and seem to add almost nothing to any discussion (nothing useful).
Growing pains from incorporating Walgreens in early 2014 (grew business by 40%); systems are not yet fully integrated.
Too much finger pointing on system vulnerabilities.

    Advice to Management

Pick a strategy, stick with it.
Don't fall for the finger pointing games - get to the bottom of vulnerabilities and remediate.
