Current Employee - Senior Software Engineer in Bangalore (India)

I have been working at Autoliv full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    * Safety Technology. ore stress on Quality
    * Salary is more than average salary of Bangalore based Automotive embedded companies
    * Not much pressure
    * Small teams and hence get to work on multiple modules

    Cons

    * Good for Freshmen - as more development projects are small change packages or maintenance activity
    * Good for Testing - as most of the projects handled in Bangalore are for V&V. Get to work on great tools
    * Experienced Software developer will find it saturated soon.
    * Infrastructure could have been better considering this is a MNC, No proper canteen facilities

I have been working at Autoliv full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

They have good benefits and the holiday shut down is nice when you get almost two weeks off during Christmas.

    Cons

No corporate structure (atleast where I was). Managment starts to panic easily. The other engineers and managment were condescending and critical at times when it was unnecessary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a deep breath and take some management 101 classes.

Former Contractor - Radar DSP Engineer in Lowell, MA (US)
Former Contractor - Radar DSP Engineer in Lowell, MA (US)

I worked at Autoliv as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

    -Not very stressful environment
    -The managers are nice
    -Cafeteria on top floor
    -Profit sharing for employees

    Cons

    - Company wants to hire through temp agencies as contractors (no benefits), and keep you waiting for a perm position for a LONG time, even though the temp agency promises 6 months at the beginning.
    - Technology isn't evolving very fast
    - Salaries are not very high
    - Lots of meetings
    - A bit disorganized. People get pulled from project to project, always saying it's crisis mode, all hands on board. You never really get deep into your work.

Former Intern - Technical Customer Manager in Lowell, MA (US)

I worked at Autoliv as an intern

    Pros

    - Gain experience with embedded systems
    - Respectful environment
    - Engineers are willing to help you out

    Cons

    - Internship was slow to start; they get you materials after you arrive, and don't prepare them beforehand
    - Sometimes projects seem to lack direction
    - Sometimes assigned with busywork- not ideal for an engineering internship
    - Some work did not require an engineering degree to handle

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take time to organize what you want from your interns, prepare objectives and tools required beforehand

Former Employee - IT Helpdesk Engineer in Braşov (Romania)

I worked at Autoliv full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    nice bunch of people
a lot of international people and that is pretty much it
somewhat good pay package, if you got good negotiation skills

    Cons

-twelve hour shifts in the weekend, that are re-compensated in 3free days (though in money that would mean more) - but the framework is illegal for that
    -no professionalism
-HR employees discussing sometimes their processes of recruiting in front of others
-long time to get to the office, no paid extra hours
-expectation to stay over working hours, but no clear statement that transportation would be paid for doing this when staying over hours as the offices are far out of town and no public transport available
-no real training, just inside - so no possibility of certification training and no recreational facilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

might want to pay more attention why all your good people are leaving and you only stick with the lot, and stop favoritism and nepotism.
