    Pros

Good selection of fleet and the least rewarded staff work the hardest.

    Cons

Long hours, not enough operators for customers. Top level managers are where all the focus is not mid or front line. Staff just expected to work on locations extra hours without pay if its busy because they can't provide staff. Customers get frustrated because you can't give good service.

I worked at Avis Budget Group full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Descent benefits including medical, 401k, employee rental rates and free vacation car allowances. Established and stable company.

    Cons

Frequent changes in district management. Lack of consistency in implementing and enforcing policies. High turnover of some staff. Overall very low morale in staff. Loyalty and knowledge of long time staff are not valued. Innovation is not valued either. Avis has moved from a customer service organization to a pure sales profitability business. Employees are not valued or treated well despite their service.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decisions about policies including vacation requests, shift bids, scheduling, are disorganized and changed without reason and on the fly sometimes. Giving the impression management does NOT know what its doing. Flippant changes and inconsistent enforcement of rules leads to extremely low morale as well as confusion of staff. For example in my 20 years there, policies on vacation requests have changed each year!

    Pros

There are really no pros, besides the shift that I work with is pretty awesome.

    Cons

There are many cons. You get paid a set wage of less than $10 per hour. The commission is based off percentages. SO if you make the company $20K in revenue, you may only get $800 in commission. The management is horrible at my location. No real perks of being with the company.. except great benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management needs extensive training.

    Pros

The colleagues are really nice and some what a positive environment.

    Cons

Long hours, low pay, and zero work-life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They should stop being cheap and organize a better work environment for their employee. They should hire more employees before expanding their business, and have better compensations!

    Cons

No work life Balance. No the best choice if you have kids.

I worked at Avis Budget Group full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The insurance benefits are great and the pay is great as well as the overtime available and the holiday pay.

    Cons

There are no verbal disclosures to customers, so a customer can pay for a car in advance and not get the car because they did not "read" all the fine print. Also, at the counter things are added on, such as insurances and the customer often times is not "aware" of the charges until they are billed. They are then told to call CS.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

DISCLOSE.....it really sucks having to tell someone that it is too bad they already paid for a car and are not eligible to drive it.

I have been working at Avis Budget Group (more than an year)

    Pros

Typically one can develop great relationships with the customers of their location. The fellow employees are usually good people as well.

    Cons

Extremely high turnover rate. Poor supply chain management skills. Every week I would encounter a situation where the district manager did not have enough necessary cars available to rent. This creates furious customers who are unable to rent a car and all they can do is yell at the customer service rep.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

At least pretend like you want to be there and work for the company.

I worked at Avis Budget Group part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Not much. Commission would be a pro but a smaller airport plus we never had cars made it difficult.

    Cons

Manager was horrible since it's her first time. She does not know how to deal with her employees. A little to friendly with employees from other rental agencies which is not good practice. Rumors spreading about idiotic things. I hate having a job when people are always talking about each other. That's why I quit my job. At the end of the day if you don't like your work environment you should always leave because it will just get worse.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some managers who know what they are doing and have been managers previously. I get that it will be more difficult in a smaller area but it will save you in the long haul.
