I have been working at Bridgepoint Education full-time for more than a year

ProsGreat people to work with, I have to recognize that most people at BTS . We're good employees to work with. Free education opportunities and some training.

ConsNo leadership ,the CEO main focus is only on profit and his bonus check. Every 6 months the company laid off employees across the board. Most Systems are now been outsource.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn leadership skills and to The CEO "Please control your greed and learn how to live with Only 5 million dollars a year"

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Garbage Place to Work For

Admissions Counselor/Student Advisor (Former Employee)
San Diego, CA (US)

I worked at Bridgepoint Education full-time for more than 3 years

ProsThe environment and the people you work with can be great.

ConsSome managers suck at their job. Upper management never knows what they're doing. Constant change and inconsistency with policies can add stress to the job.

Advice to Senior ManagementWake up because you are losing valuable employees. Andrew Clark stop being so greedy and give back to your employees who work hard to fill your pockets.

The worst/most stressful job I ever had.

Admissions Coordinator (Former Employee)
San Diego, CA (US)

I worked at Bridgepoint Education full-time for more than 3 years

ProsMy co-workers were fun, friendly and smart despite the overall negative vibe created by leads and managers.

ConsInexperienced managers who did not practice what they preached.
Highest turnover rate of any employer I have ever known.
Outing employees in group meetings for job performance -- who trained these people?
Harassment of employees and open discrimination.
There is no salary that can compensate for being treated as sub-human.
Salary in my department was low.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet some leaders who have leadership skills and experience.
Treat employees as people and not machines.

Pushing Ethics

Admissions Counselor (Former Employee)
San Diego, CA (US)

I worked at Bridgepoint Education full-time for more than a year

ProsCo-wokers were mostly fun, there is a certain level of professional development here though it plateaus quickly.

ConsThis company is under constant pressure now from the Congress to change its practices, and is being investigated by the department of justice. They essentially lied to me about the job I would be doing when I signed up. They have no idea what they're doing now. This place is a dead end.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of your ENTIRE executive team and start over. Terrible.

Sadly, Layoffs in Denver, Again.

Recruiter (Former Employee)
Denver, CO (US)

I worked at Bridgepoint Education full-time for less than a year

ProsGreat Pay. Great Benefits. Fast Paced Environment. Updated building. Meet New People.
Some of the management staff are friendly.
You get to keep your job if you do well selling online education subscriptions.

ConsSadly, there are layoffs happening in Denver again. If you aren't making enrollments fast enough, you will be laid off. Very cut-throat environment.
The focus is on Education yet you will be expected to make enrollments- at any cost.
This is a value testing environment. If you have any, you won't make it for long.
Human Resources hands are tied. If you don't meet what they won't call a quota, you will be fired.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo Not Discriminate In The Hiring Process. Lay off the managers that risk you being exposed for discrimination in the hiring process.
Admit you have a quota. 'Performance Based' works but don't tell people when you 'lay them off' that they don't fit the values when they aren't making sales.

Joke of a University

Admissions Counselor (Former Employee)
Denver, CO (US)

I worked at Bridgepoint Education full-time for less than a year

ProsDecent starting salary and benefits package
Enjoyed my coworkers

ConsEverything else
The pay and benefits have to be good because nearly everyone hates working there.
Management was hilariously inept. I had 3 managers in 8 months and didn't learn a thing from any of them. Directors are only about the bottom line and will overlook employees breaking federal laws as long as their enrolling "students".
Admissions Counselor is the most misleading title ever. They use sales tactics and teach you how to guilt people into enrolling into a school that is going to fail them.
I was repeatedly asked if I was interested in moving up to management, then inexplicably laid off in their last "10% cut" without any concrete reason.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet out before the DoE shuts down the school and prosecutes for breaking federal regulations.

Terrible

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
San Diego, CA (US)

I have been working at Bridgepoint Education

ProsA lot of paid holidays. Average vacation and sick time. Decent health benefits.

ConsHorrible management. Several managers advanced to their position with little management experience. Very disorganized. The company grew too fast and internal structure and organization did not evolve with it. The company let go of 10% of the company all at once (a mass fire, not a layoff). I would not recommend working here.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide more direction and feedback for employees.
