    Pros

Great work-life balance & awesome co-workers. Work hard and do your work and you will get to recognized. They have lots of fun events/activities every month which is a great way to communicate and bond with other teams.

    Cons

During times of high call volume it can be stressful, but it was a great way to learn to deal with stressful environments.

    Advice to Management

Keeps recognizing good work as it is a incentive to do great!!

    Pros

The upper corporate management takes great care of the unit managers. They were far ahead of other national chains in compensation and benefits.

    Cons

As with any unit level restaurant management the varying schedule and hours are rough. I had negative experiences with a poor AD but I believe this was an isolated experience.

    Advice to Management

Fewer management programs analyzing personality, work style, motivation basis, and on and on. In the 3 years I was there we went through 3 different programs analyzing how we could be more productive.

    Pros

Secure and stable job environment with huge resources

    Cons

    Mature company no longer growing

    Advice to Management

Be sure you are comfortable conforming to the language required to be spoken there and enjoy specific routines and checklists that don't change. Ability to advance based upon results is very good.

    I worked at Brinker

    Pros

HAD AN EXCELLENT EXE. CHEF. He was actually italian. Had Very High Standards for how we wanted his kitchen to run

    Cons

This store had a High GM turn over rate. The GM was lazy and was irritated when ever he had to go visit tables.. More concerned about making quotas than making guest happy

    Advice to Management

If you work harder than all your other managers you will move up quickly. That wont be hard because the managers there are lazy

    Pros

Brinker is really one big family. When a team member is in crisis, they pull together and help out with support and the Brinker Family Fund. That is what I miss most about working there, the camaraderie.
The expectations are clear, and if you exceed them, you will be extremely successful. The bonuses are some of the best in the industry if you can exceed them (which my team always did).

    Cons

Chili's kept making a lot of knee jerk reaction changes to keep up with the competition. I am all for change, it is good sometimes, but as a manager in operations, I was in the front lines and had a lot of apologizing to do to the guests, the loyal guests.
My other con to working there is the 50-55 hour work week is not true, especially if you are trying to hit or exceed your target bonus.

    Advice to Management

The upper management was really invested in my growth.

    Pros

Great culture! Work hard, play hard is the motto. They have a casual work environment. There is a lot of diversity and development within the company to help you grow professionally (laterally or in your role).

    Cons

Not a lot of upward movement and hard to transition into different roles. There used to be a lot less pressure to achieve such intense results which sometimes negatively impacts the great work/life balance that the company promotes.
