    Pros

    I moved to work here as my first job and I worked with some good people. That's pretty much it.

    Cons

    This is going to sound like a very ugly evaluation but I've been honest in everything and I really would not recommend this company.

    At first everything was peachy, but everything started going downhill pretty quickly. One senior person left the team due to the stress and the other was let go. Both were good people. Work/life balance is horrible. I thought the culture was good at first but I was wrong. There is a disease growing in Cerner that people are oblivious to. When your higher-ups have worked long hours and overtime to fulfill client needs they expect you to do exactly the same. I tried to explain this to my superiors many times. A good engineer is only good when they aren't worn out from stress, client calls, and un-appreciation. There was even a support engineer who was so rude to me and my higher-ups did very little. Just told me that they were "looking into it" but I never got an apology from the engineer. In my first year of working I learned a lot but since the framework was so complex, I didn't have the opportunity to contribute a lot. That year I got a 10% raise. My second year I decided to be a go-getter and contribute a lot more. That year I got a 1% raise. Pretty fair isn't it?

    If you want to work for Cerner, know that the only way you will survive is to put huge amounts of time in your career to grow. They have a new program in place for new hire software engineers that I dodged since I joined earlier but I heard it is pretty horrible. I've heard that from people joining our team from the program. Word to the wise, if you get up and move all the way to Kansas City for your first job and don't pass the initial program, you will be fired. You don't even join a team till 5-6 weeks. There is no bonus; your compensation increases based on how your peers are doing and how you are doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Appreciate engineers more. Come and talk to them and get to know them. Don't just send out emails when someone has done something wrong, send out emails when people have done a good job too. Listen to your employees and put good practices in place so that we don't all decide to leave causing a high turnover rate. If someone is rude to your employee, take action don't say we're "watching it from now on".

    Pros

    Company is growing in revenue and size. That's about it.

    Cons

    My experience at Cerner has been pathetic.
    Poor pay
    Poor raise
    Zero annual Bonus
    A lot of overtime
    Micro managed
    Complex projects but very outdated technologies. (You won't believe, last week I made a major change to a module which was first written in 1997)
    Poor benefits including health plan.
    No company sponsored team outings in my tenure of 3+ years
    Very unsocial associates.
    24*7 support but lack of work recognition
    and much more.

    Although the company is doing well, I would not recommend the company to anyone.

    Stop being stingy and splurge a little on the backbone of your company.

    Pros

    Exposure to technology, must drink the Cerner kool-aid to survive there.

    Cons

    Culture at Cerner is a IT sweatshop, you have to drink the Cerner kool-aid to survive there, Watch out for incompetent managers and coworkers who play corporate office politics, chances of getting fired is always high, the turnover rate is more than 25%. If you are relocating to Kansas City from the East coast/West coast please avoid it, Kansas City is not that great and moreover Cerner is a big player here, so you are made to feel like you are disposable and should be grateful for your job.

    Encourage creativity, and stop playing office politics.

    Pros

    Centrally located. Met some great people who have the same opinion of the company as I do but are afraid to speak up. On-site Pharmacy was a nice benefit.

    Cons

    Most incompetent Management that I've ever been around in my career. U.S. Consulting was the business unit that I was assigned too. This Management team is built solely by a bunch of people who formed a click and promotions are made based upon a popularity contest! Not once in my 3 years and 7 months of employment did management see me do my job as an Engagement Leader on-site at a hospital. How can you judge performance that way? Stay away from this company if you have any long-term leadership experience. That will consider you a threat if you voice your opinion or question their click!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take a look in a mirror, this company is on the same path as Sprint was a few years ago. You're becoming over extended and bragging about how many employees you have when in reality your product has challenges and many gaps and your main competitor is taking 7 out of 10 sales on average. My suggestion is to sell so a company can come in and put policies and processes in place and eliminate the rift raft management that is in place to move this company forward. If you don't, then many of your properties will sit vacant soon!

    Pros

    Not one, simply the worst! I quit after my third month. They will make you work at least 65 hours a week, no work life balance at all. Tasks are timed and just about impossible to accomplish within the given time frame.

    I can not recommend this company to anyone and I strongly advise to look somewhere else.

    Cons

    Everything, long hours, disorganization at its best, nasty managers, unpleasant and unhappy co workers.

    Pros

    Not really a pro but it is all I can think of. Your manager may be located in another country so at least your not micro managed

    Cons

    Hiring Process: HR is a shared service located in India so you will only speak to a HR shared services employee located there. they are not skilled in talent aquisiton and cannot answer your questions.I applied via a search engine and then was asked to re apply via the link they sent me (same documents, nothing additional asked for ?)
    You will then hear nothing for weeks
    You'll then have a couple of interviews where you will get the impression from the questions they will take anyone with a pulse
    They will tell you they are growing hence the hiring. But holding induction 2 times per week in Kansas City is a sure sign that they are losing employees by the truckload
    They will send you a linked to HIRERIGHT for background checks, You will do all the work having to supply all the documents and they DO NOT call any referee supplied. You will not hear from anyone at CERNER for a few weeks
    The offer you receive will be lower than the benchmark and then you will have the joy of printing and signing a 28 page contract and then scanning it back.
    You'll then be asked to fly to Kansas for induction. From Australia you'll fly economy on Delta and they expect you to pay to book a new flight since they think that you can get through LAX immigration/customs in 1hr and 10 minutes.
    I've regret my choice to work for this company

    None. I guess the fact that I got to try out and use on a daily bass a dell D830 before buying one for myself.

    Cons

    I used to work here back in the mid 2000's before the move to the innovations campus. Everything sucked. On job vent (before the reviews were removed) it was rated as one of the worst companies to work for.

    No support from management. I work 50, 60 hour weeks with no recognition
    Management talks down to team leads.

    Thank-you calls, emails etc would help turn around and keep people with the company
