I worked at Clear Channel full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pretty good place to work with a lot of perks such as concert tickets at area venues. Also, exciting to be in the music industry.

    Cons

politics, in a word. Like any large corporation, everyone is trying to climb the ladder of success so you sometimes their efforts to do so will be on the backs of others.

    Pros

Clear Channel is a good company to work for. Most people are kind and friendly.

    Cons

Poor middle management and most of their staff are contractors.

    Pros

Many different departments to cover a variety of job interests. Coworkers friendly and helpful.

    Cons

Offices close and a variety of market work loads merged into one with no additional pay. No breaks in workday. Low pay for support staff.

Former Employee - Production in Birmingham, AL (US)

I worked at Clear Channel part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The perks of radio are always there. Concert tickets, free stuff, food, etc (when you can get them and if you're friends with promotions)

    Cons

We all know the pay is crap and the risk of unemployment is always looming. Plus its corporate radio so you have limited control over what goes over the air.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your people what they're worth. If you keep piling on work, compensate your employees for it and don't assume the fringe benefits will keep them happy.

I worked at Clear Channel full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Radio life is a fast paced, exciting environment. Endless opportunities to develop new business relationships and generate a healthy income.

    Cons

Focus on best interest for the station(s) rather than best interest for the clients (advertisers). Micro management was a common practice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Challenge upper management to create a vision focusing on clients success. Their success with campaigns will breed future success rather then continuous attempt to replace lost business partners.

I worked at Clear Channel as an intern

    Pros

Great company culture, nice people, fun events, "family" environment, feel valued by co-workers, solid internship experience

    Cons

No upward mobility, company isn't doing too great overall

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember WHY people listen to radio in the first place - the personalities. Stop making all CC stations the same nationwide or you'll lose your audience entirely to satellite radio, Pandora or Spotify

Former Employee - Promotions Intern in Chicago, IL (US)

I worked at Clear Channel as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The schedule was really flexible. Had the opportunity to completely manage promotional events.

    Cons

Interns are mostly just free labor. The position didn't offer much in the way of professional development and overall it was extremely easy. Most of the jobs I did as an intern were just busy work. Not that busy work is all bad but it just wasn't challenging at all and I learned essentially nothing from the work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer some kind of professional development for interns. I think casually showing interns Clear Channels marketing department or strategy would go a long way in satisfying current interns and attracting future interns to the company.

I worked at Clear Channel full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good environment to learn in, the best company there is for working in radio, friendly employees outside of management

    Cons

Known in the industry as "cheap channel" and they follow through - raises are a joke if you get one at all, benefits have gone downhill the last 4 years (from United Healthcare to their own "Clear Channel Health Plan" for less coverage and more money), upper management (C-Suite especially) is COMPLETELY out of touch with their employees other than people in leadership positions, completely understaffed for the amount of work people do in certain divisions and are made to feel as if they are as interchangeable as a piece of furniture.

    Pros

Always changing. Fast paced. Results driven.

    Cons

No raises. Cost cutting is hurting the products. Talented people are leaving the company and the industry

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People are the product. Have to devise a plan to be visible in the local markets
