Informative experience in the advertising world of radio

Account Executive (Former Employee) West Palm Beach, FL (US)

ProsPositive and engaging company with passionate people and leadership
Extensive array of tools to create effective and appropriate presentations including present day stats and data
    Cohesive interdepartmental interactions
Good products, station line-ups and Talent

ConsZero training that is helpful, one is left to figure EVERYTHING out on one's own. All the technology, programs, company info, even HR materials
Archaic billing and collections systems that confuce and most often infuriate clients
Non-delivery of inventory or over sell of inventory regularly resulting on constant charge backs
Micro Management on a 100% commission structure
Expectatins of home computer, mobile phone, car, gas without any compensation

Advice to Senior ManagementFix the Cons-especially a minimal first week to two weeks orientation of company, technologies, assets to work with and HR-Company process and proceedures

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Very hands on within the field work

Promotions Intern (Current Employee) Hartford, CT (US)

ProsWas able to assist with music lounge performances, getting access with artists in an intimate setting.

ConsSometimes felt as though they didn't know what to do with the interns within the office setting, so many times you sat at the front desk waiting for a task

    Steady paycheck

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsSteady paycheck, good people. They really try to keep us happy but the pay will stay the same unless you're upper management

ConsNowhere to grow, repetitive job. The pay is as good as the day you got hired, don't count on them giving you a raise.

Advice to Senior ManagementSales people seem to be treated better than others.

    Company is changing

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe rank and file are very pleasant to work with. Salary is decent for the area and good bonuses when the company is doing well

ConsLack of communication. Minimal feedback and people come and go without any notification. With the new leadership, the company is losing more experienced staff either because they are leaving or let go.

Account Executive (Current Employee) Panama City Beach, FL (US)

Prostraining, company benefits, perks, unique creative group, reputation of stations

Consnegative atmosphere with constant need to breakdown staff to try to make them feel like they could never succeed anywhere else

Cons"Cheap Channel" they pay low. It is up to your sales to recover what they pay. I have done a lot better with other companies.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay better! More incentives.

Learned a lot while selling my soul

Producer (Former Employee) Richmond, VA (US)

ProsAs a producer for 3 local news-talk programs for WRVA, I learned my way around a board, how to edit and finalize audio in less than 15 seconds, and I developed an on-air personality through my interactions with the hosts. That helped me to land a gig DJing for the local indie radio station, WRIR which I love.

ConsClear Channel is an utterly evil corporation owned by the Romney family with it's tendrils sucking the life out of low-paid college students across the country. I slaved away with no hope of a raise, worked insane hours, and had to put up with affronting and insulting political opinions that often targeted me. It was not a happy place for me.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind a way to offer raises to those who deserve it, stand up for your employees.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Clear Channel was a good company to work for

Radio Personality (Former Employee) Columbus, GA (US)

ProsFun radio experience, people were great

ConsPay was not good. When asked for a raise they basically laughed in my face

Advice to Senior ManagementPay your good people a little bit better....Every little bit counts it at least lets them know that you really do care.

Up and Down depending on local management

Senior Account Executive (Former Employee) San Antonio, TX (US)

ProsNew products, lots of variety of products, large company research assets.fun people

ConsSelf insured, too many sellers, lack of support staff, inexperienced management, use you then loose you mentality, lacks technical infrastructure and no budgets to fix.lots of ideas but no follow through, and negative annual commission changes.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
