    Big company, wages are generally poor so job is pretty secure

    Cons

    Managers are either really good and soon move on or hopelessly useless and ever present.

    Pros

    Various product training available within the company, Huge pool of knowledge for consumer products and electronic gadgets. Great for someone who loves to tinker with products and latest gadgets, as many manufactures gives you live demo

    Cons

    Could do better on wages, sales incentive and bonus structure is not very lucrative. Management can be more people friendly.

    Flexible shifts, usually long which is good if you have to travel
    Can be a friendly work environment

    Pros

    You get paid on time.
    Nice people to work with.
    Since its an electronic retailer, an employee gets plenty of discounts on the in house products and have good local discounts.

    Cons

    Retail Dead End jobs. No real room for good promotions. Uninteresting management, the middle management seems stuck up and not flexible.

    They only look at processes and not the employee, in another words working there would just be like you're another employee number. Machines will start automating soon enough.

    Don't treat employees like numbers.

    Some great senior people
    Rapidly changing industry
    Household name
    Technology sector is cutting edge

    Cons

    Public perception is that Dixons still make 40% margin on high tech, so the brand isn't loved.
    Everything is about operations or product pricing. Limited opportunity to build rapport with suppliers and/or an engaging customer experience.

    Keep going with the transformation. Work on brand image and ensuring there are good career opportunities for the workforce.

    Pros

    Open door hiring policy. Multicultural mix of staff and management.

    Cons

    all load is shifted downwards, even when it is quite easily manageable at middle level, with minimum resource information.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Must get dynamic and up to date being a tech. company in soft measure and procedures. Must keep stable outlook and presence on premises to gain customer confidence. There are other ways to make net margin without pressurized selling of insurance.
