I have been working at LanguageLine Solutions part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Work at home. Chose your own schedule (initially).good stepping stone or additional part time job, not for permanent main job. No benefits. No one as a go to person to answer any concerns ( we realy on one another and our forum that is closely monitored)

    Cons

Minimum pay. Been here almost 3 years absolutely no raise. Many many many calls. Any issues with system gets blamed on interpreter.Any absense/adjustment to shift you receive a bad mark. After a certain amount of those marks a year you could get fired.mo PTO, vac days just UTO. Work holidays. Only part of phone bill reimbursed. You pay bills, materials (alot of pens and paper usage). No holidays off. No room for advancement. Does not look like it will be better but much worst.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay what is fair. Mininum wage for people who are certified or have a degree like alot of us is a joke. This company makes tons, requires alot from its interpreters and provides us with the least of everything possible. Besides pay trainings, management everything is scarce!

    Pros

No pros except working from home

    Cons

LOW PAY! NO DECENT BENEFITS, REALLY AVOID THIS COMPANY... they make you go through hoops but they pay the least out of all companies... and all this number 1 company myth...total BS. I used to work for Cyracom (Company#2) - at least my pay was $600-700 more a month.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO SWITCH A JOB - LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

there are no managers there... just one disorganized, outdated mess house.

I have been working at LanguageLine Solutions

    Pros

It is a job and that's it.

    Cons

Chaotic environment managed - not lead - by insecure people who don't know and don't care about the company, its people or its clients. Executives who run their departments by identifying, stirring up and then using their employees' weaknesses against them. They take care of each other though and everyone knows it. So who can employees go to for help? No one. Walk the hallways and you can feel the stress. People running around afraid to make mistakes and looking over their shoulder.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Executive team: stop trying to keep your people small so you can feel in control. That is no way to run this place. Being mean is nothing to be proud of and everyone is talking about it.

    Pros

Working from home becomes your prison...

    Cons

    0 opportunity for advancement
    low wages
you could end up in a dead end
Very secular -- even when you are being helpful you get treated like the enemy
    NO PAID TIME OFF
It's a specialized service yet you're slammed with calls like a run of the mill call center except there's no incentive
still working holidays after 15 yrs

    I worked at LanguageLine Solutions

    Pros

    Working from home
May be a good job for a beginner interpreter/ CSR

    Cons

Horrible management. No way to get a day-off or vacation, let alone getting a sick day-off...
Miserable wages. Although this job requires excellent language skills, versatile mind and high level of education - otherwise you just are not hired - the job can be very stressful... they pay you just entry level wage no matter how long you have worked for the company and what level of interpretation and service you are providing...
The employee morale is terrible, and the employee turnover is huge. As you are becoming more skilled and experienced over time, they tend to increase your job volume without pay increase. Pay rates never increased ever since 2005. You feel more like discouraged from this work. This management approach is entirely wrong.
Although, it may be a good place for a beginners, this company is the worst place in terms of career prospects. With the skills and experience developed through this job you should be able to get a much better job in customer service or interpretation business, with much higher pay and conditions...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The amount of criticism towards this company clearly indicates that the management has huge issues related to employee morale.
I would highly advise that the management revise their policies with regard to interpreters and try and understand that interpreters assume huge responsibility doing this job... Especially where it comes to medical and legal/court interpretation. If the management fails to learn how to motivate employees and adjust their attitudes and policies accordingly, I would advise the management to stay away from this business. Otherwise, they eventually may be sued and held responsible for exposing the company clients to high risks through neglecting the interpreters needs.

I worked at LanguageLine Solutions part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Work at home. That's the only upside to working here sadly. I tried thinking of others but this is it.

    Cons

No advancement opportunities, no raises, high call volume, management expects you to interpret as if you were a decent paid, certified interpreter yet pay you minimum wage, management is rude, many clients are rude as well.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. Stay away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensate the interpreters better since you expect them to interpret near flawlessly. Or else don't expect it.

I have been working at LanguageLine Solutions full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    work from home no commute.

    Cons

Lack of Management, Lack of communications, company policies applied on employees only, you will have to move mountains to make the management respond to your emails. In my case, my resignation letter made them respond.
It is like going through hell for your vacation time to approved and at the end it will be given to as an "approved absence". Lack of coordination, lack of communication. Good job for GED holders, actually that is what they want. They don't care about the services provided to the Clients as they let their best employees quit their jobs easily. No raise, no future promotions, no future in this company. Wasted 18 months in this death trap, not going to waste anymore time. My pay was not bad comparing to the others, but still too low for my skills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to your interpreters, supervisors will not bring you the revenues as the interpreters do. Honor your company policy towards your interpreter and their rights. Honor your interpreter's requests and emails by a simple email even if with two sentence but in time.
