    Pros

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is one of the original three comprehensive cancer centers in the United States established by the National Cancer Act of 1971.This cancer center is full of opportunities for junior scientists.

    Cons

It is too big to effectively administrate in some aspects. Another important reason for me is so far away from my family. They live in Washington DC area.

    Pros

    Working for a great cause
    Wonderful people that care
    Excellent health care benefits
    Comprehensive training
Night and day difference between working for a non-profit and a profit hospital

    Cons

    Overwhelmingly large organization
Large volume of patients to limited staff
Stressful dealing with patients that all have life threatening illnesses
    Communication can be improved

    Advice to Management

Adequate staffing helps employees provide a better experience to patients without rushing and stressing out over all the other patients that are still waiting to be helped.
Have better oversight that removes employees that are not customer oriented and do not provide a caring experience.

    Pros

great colleagues, excellent benefits, active effort to make employees happy by upper management

    Cons

middle management likes the status quo, garage parking is costly, work can be emotionally draining if you deal with patients

    Advice to Management

pay more attention to the emotional toll the work can take on employees from seeing so many sick patients, develop a program to deal with this besides employee assistance, which is worthless.

    Pros

As a research assistant, MD Anderson had good working hours and a great environment among coworkers. Most of the employees are more than competent and function as a single unit despite its enormous size, which makes doing your job easier and more enjoyable.

    Cons

While most of the doctors and scientists were perfectly friendly, some had either too big of egos or no management skills which made it difficult dealing with them.
