    Good Firm with

    Sales (Current Employee) London, England

ProsGreat resources and lots of knowledgeable people. A Who's Who of clients. Very strong and leading with large global/complex accounts. Specialty side of business is awesome with great brokers who really give it their all. Some managers (specialty) are tireless and give their life to the business and their team.

ConsExtremely expense reduction focused. At least annual reductions in staff (sometimes 2x a year)... tend to stay around 70-80 so not published and these are not just low performers... often these are masked as position elimination but they craft a 'new' position and adjust responsibilities to get by. Also, extremely internally focused despite great external efforts of many colleagues moving ahead. Several senior managers are self-preservation experts and promoters, at the expense of others.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen without retribution and respect different views, not just people saying what they think you want to hear. Employees are not disposable resources.

    Dog Eat Dog

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) London, England

ProsFair compensation. Quite a few knowledgeable and friendly colleagues. Nice, modern offices in Tower Place, London.

ConsVery political environment. Few career development opportunities. Need to constantly fight for yourself / what you believe in. Poor team spirit.

Advice to Senior ManagementAssess and reward people based on their actual performance, not solely what their manager thinks. Do not allow / support bullying practices in the workplace.

    Great people; lackluster pay

    Project Manager (Current Employee)

ProsI think the people at Marsh are great. It's generally a good environment where people work hard but have a sense of humor and are socially fun.

ConsThe salaries seem average at best. Definitely not known to be high payers. Try to get in at a high salary because even the merit raises are weak.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive your top rated employees better pay. The recognition in this area is poor.

    Account Manager

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat resources, very talented people, exposure to great clients. Brand name in the industry and the opportunity to work on significant projects.

ConsA 9 to 5 culture, lots of legacy employees, very disparate levels of talent. No compensation transparency, the office is too small for personal growth

Terrible and you will feel like you're accomplishing nothing daily

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThere really are none, discounted food? If you get lucky, your manager may actually want to train you. Good de minimis fringes

ConsCompany does nothing right, low pay and no responsibility, oftentimes you will find employees just sitting around chatting doing nothing because they have nothing to do

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn to trust and compensate your employees, stop making managers managers because they know the CEO

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
