I have been working at Marsh & McLennan Companies full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits pretty good, reasonable flexible working policy, superb immediate management

    Cons

Expectation of project deliverables just crazy. Too many things on the go at once, no quality control, too many "A1" priority tasks handed to you. Cost cutting affecting personal development, if you want to learn, best to do it in your own time at your own expense.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop penny pinching and do some better long term forecasting of projects to stop ramming everything through at the drop of a hat.

    Pros

The compensation and benefits are very attractive, but only if you get into a management role.

    Cons

Resources are often over overloaded. Projects delivery dates are often backed into a date that management wants to achieve without fully rationalizing and evaluating the real effort needed to get the project completed properly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Taking the time to fully understand and estimate the effort for a given project is key to its success. Cutting corners, reducing scope, and skipping valuable steps all leads to the delivery of a subpar performing product or solution. Taking the time to do things the right way from the beginning will greatly reduce the amount of time and effort needed for support and maintenance going forward.

I have been working at Marsh & McLennan Companies full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

When I first started it was great, corporate setting with a family like atmosphere. A lot of training and room to move up. Positive feedback and wonderful incentives.

    Cons

Things within the last two years have changed. Next to no training, sink or swim mentality. It has become money driven and the employee turn over rate is at its highest.

Disappointed. Talent Acquisition team doesn't interact with staff so they really don't know what talent is in house.

I have been working at Marsh & McLennan Companies as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Nice cafeteria, some very nice staff members who seem to be in a rut since there is no career advancement.

    Cons

Talent Acquisition team or what other worlds might call HR do not interact with staff and when you engage them regarding your career aspirations or looking for another opportunity to work somewhere else with the organization they are a bunch of robots and tell you to look at the website. There is no interaction with people via verbal communications with this area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop outsourcing. Interaction with employees and temps. Engaging your staff with human contact would be nice. Talent Acquisition Team needs to be overhauled, they don't follow thru at all.
