    Pros

Pay and benefits pretty good, reasonable flexible working policy, superb immediate management

    Cons

Expectation of project deliverables just crazy. Too many things on the go at once, no quality control, too many "A1" priority tasks handed to you. Cost cutting affecting personal development, if you want to learn, best to do it in your own time at your own expense.

    Advice to Management

Stop penny pinching and do some better long term forecasting of projects to stop ramming everything through at the drop of a hat.

    Pros

    - Knowledgeable colleagues who know their stuff
    - Many opportunities to grow skills/learn
    - Challenging and varied assignments
    - Flexible working environment and often the ability to work remotely.
-They have treated me well enough over the years that I have lasted 13 years so far.

    Cons

    - Luck of draw effect...some of the Pros depend on where you end up and who you work for
    - Workload can sometimes be overwhelming
    - Some of those knowledgeable colleagues are kind of hard to work for.
    - Performance Ratings system is a joke...rigged game designed to reward a select few.
    - If you're an expert and you deliver great work, it doesn't matter, you're still a second class citizen compared to the colleague that made sales.
-Company is run by bean counters who panic on a monthly basis about financials and demand billable hours forecasts from all Associates.
-Career growth is difficult if you don't want to sell. Many people make it to Principal and then turtle up....doing the minimum to make their sales and revenue targets
    - 13 years here, but the trend to me seems generally negative. Salary, benefits, Bonus, and continued career growth, all seem uncertain

    Advice to Management

Value the work first. Invest in the best people doing the best work and the clients will come

    Pros

    - Great staff and lots of intelligent people to work with
    - Large company with excellent global resources
    - Strategic and sophisticated client service methodology
    - Excellent and challenging clients

    Cons

    - No recognition given to top performing employees
    - Senior management with fat pay checks while lower level employees are run to the ground and extremely underpaid
    - Company is all about the clients at the expense of staff well being and morale
     - Salary review process a joke. Constant internal memos about year on year double digit growth while non-management staff who really deliver the services to clients receive salary adjustments lower than inflation
    - too much unnecessary bureaucracy
    - CEO gets a lot of kudos from shareholders for cutting costs while staff are burnt out due to ridiculous work load and lack of support staff
    - low employee morale
    - everything has to be approved by New York

    Advice to Management

Invest back in the business or you will lose your top performers which in turn will cost you a hell of a lot more than just recognising and doing the right thing by your staff

Raises are consistently 0% to 2% a year.

    Pros

The purpose of my review is mostly to focus on salary increases at Marsh. I will preface my comments by saying that I enjoy my job, mostly because of the people I work with. I've also been given opportunities to advance in the company, which has made it worth my while to stay here. Marsh employees will know that meeting expectations is associated with obtaining a "3" performance rating at the end of year review. In my time working for a subsidiary of this company, I have rated between 3 and 5, regularly meeting and exceeding expectations. In any given year, the highest salary increase I've had was 2%, and in every instance, was well below the national average. Although it is possible to start off with a salary that is competitive at Marsh, over time, one is at a disadvantage salary-wise.

    Cons

To reiterate, salaries can be competitive and opportunities available if you with hard. However, salary increases tend to be very small year to year.

    Pros

Mercer employees are very smart and motivated

    Cons

There is no work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Turn over is very high - take that seriously.

    Pros

The compensation and benefits are very attractive, but only if you get into a management role.

    Cons

Resources are often over overloaded. Projects delivery dates are often backed into a date that management wants to achieve without fully rationalizing and evaluating the real effort needed to get the project completed properly.

    Advice to Management

Taking the time to fully understand and estimate the effort for a given project is key to its success. Cutting corners, reducing scope, and skipping valuable steps all leads to the delivery of a subpar performing product or solution. Taking the time to do things the right way from the beginning will greatly reduce the amount of time and effort needed for support and maintenance going forward.

    Pros

When I first started it was great, corporate setting with a family like atmosphere. A lot of training and room to move up. Positive feedback and wonderful incentives.

    Cons

Things within the last two years have changed. Next to no training, sink or swim mentality. It has become money driven and the employee turn over rate is at its highest.
