Former Employee - Research Intern in Cambridge, East of England, England

I worked at Microsoft as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The company culture was fun, coffee was great and you could talk and collaborate with numerous world-class researchers in machine learning, algorithms, networks, and so on. My boss was extremely knowledgeable and always open to new ideas. The pay was more than enough for me.

    Cons

Cambridge is a rather small city and housing is expensive. Also, the jobs in research can potentially have less security as they are the first ones to go if the company is in trouble.

    I worked at Microsoft

    Pros

Benefits, subsidised food, good sports team set ups. Incredibly flexible working environment.

    Cons

Stay there too long and you can end up as a lifeless 'drone', slave to the IT industry and your notebook. Work at the beck and call of management beyond office hours in your own home, or wherever you can log in on a notebook.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In general, it is a very well run organisation, and I have no suggestions for improvement. A truly outstanding place to work.

I worked at Microsoft as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Interns are treated incredibly well. The food and extra curricular activities were amazing. Fun campus. Fun problems I was solving in my team. Nice people. Lots of learning!!!

I was able to stay late and even go in on a couple of weekends,. but it was by my choice. I really liked my project and being an intern.

    Cons

Nothing that comes to mind. The only thing I would have wanted more of was more feedback on where I can improve.
