  1. Great place to work and plenty of scope for growth internally. Sometimes it can be easy to go unrecognised.

    Pros

    Large structured company.
Plenty of room to move up the ladder if you have the commitment and time!
They're always looking at the next big thing.
As long as they keep up to date with growing technology they should continue to be impressive.

    Cons

It can be a bit of a fight at times to be recognised but thats pretty much the same for all large companies.
A little bit late adopting their magazines for digital.

  2. Great people to work with. Upper management lacks direction.

    Pros

    Good pay
    Friendly and inclusive culture
    Accessible leadership

    Cons

Upper management seems to have no direction. Just trying to follow trends after they've already left.
I saw a million dollar project scrapped on the same day that it launched.

    Advice to Management

Stand by what you've already built. Don't flop around trying to chase trends.

    Pros

good team culture, location, office space, young sales team

    Cons

management unsupportive of anything that will encourage growth as an employee, horrible commission structure, way too much turnover, unrealistic KPI's, incentives minimal, not enough digital training, a tendency to launch products before testing and have them fail in front of live customers, below average pay

    Advice to Management

invest in your staff, allow them to grow in areas they are passionate about, pay them what the rest of the industry think they are worth, be more flexible with KPI's - dont just think about being innovative, actually BE innovative

    Pros

Exceptionally smart leadership. Great location. Generally nice people. Great experience for professionals who seek to understand corporate America at its best, and for people to absorb deep knowledge of their field because News Corp has great SMEs.

    Cons

Not a lot of training for "managers & below." Peers either keep to themselves or become clique-ish. The term "every man for him/herself" can be used well here because there isn't a great deal of teamwork taking place at News Corp.

I found that no sense of achievement came from completing a project at News Corp. I didn't have a manager who patted me on the back when I did a great job, and that was fine for me. But if you're looking for that, News Corp is the wrong place for you. Similarly, if you're looking for a manager to tell you what you're doing wrong and who will help you get better, News Corp is also the wrong place for you.

    Advice to Management

Plan and develop opportunities to train and develop your employees.

    Pros

Extremely coordinated tax department, with very competend and friendly people. I had a great experience while I was working at News Corp.

    Cons

Sometimes there would not be much work for me to do as an intern, but everyone was always very helpful and understanding when I got swamped with things to do

    Advice to Management

I would suggest that you keep your interns occupied and keep trying to teach them more. The internship program at News Corp is great, and I was completely happy with it.
