    Pros

A relaxed environment even when there is a lot of work to be done. Great benefits. Every other Friday off, unless your project demands otherwise of course.

    Cons

Pretty big divide between the different departments. PGE has a lot of offices, so every time there is a change in management, project scope, or there is a reorganization in the company it is time to move around.

    Pros

Strong, accountable organization, clear lines of sight to goals, common alignment among teams -- everyone is rowing in the same direction. Solid development programs, pay and benefits are very competitive.

    Cons

Nobody loves their utility company, so you need to check your ego at the door, and remember this is a regulated public utility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Current Employee - Electrical Operations in San Francisco, CA (US)

    Pros

Good compensation, many opportunities, good retirement, always improving safety practices and training.

    Cons

Some conflicts between expected output/volume of work vs. following proper procedures. Frequent movement of management players makes it hard to get used to a routine or having someone in a leadership position who knows what they are supposed to be doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Require a more field experience from Supervisors/Managers. Hold them in a position long enough so they can actually get past the learning curve then rate them based on their performance at that time to determine if they are a value to the company instead of the constant movement that allows less than capable managers to slip through the cracks.

Former Employee - Nuclear Security Officer in Eureka, CA (US)

    Pros

Pay, benefits, holiday time, all are well above par. Also, they love lateral movement and promoting from within.

    Cons

If there is an issue in a department of one of their locations, their response time leaves much to be desired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't just talk about gender equality, really shatter that glass ceiling at every level and in every department.

Former Employee - Instructional Designer in San Ramon, CA (US)

    Pros

In my role, there was lots of flexibility, autonomy, as well as challenging projects. I was able to be completely a self-starter and had a great manager with a forward-thinking management style.

    Cons

The offices and business are very spread out and therefore there is some travel involved, which I did not consider too much of a 'con,' but it is worth mentioning.

    Pros

Exceptionally intelligent, hard working, resourceful and extremely helpful colleagues who create a real team atmosphere.

    Cons

The workload can be overload at times with crucial deadlines to be met. Sometimes in working across the board it felt like the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to keep an open door policy where one is free is discuss concerns, suggestions, support needs, etc.

Current Employee - Ccsa in Rancho Cordova, CA (US)

    Pros

I have been here for about one year and have had no issues. They give you the overtime you want as well as the days off that you need with no harassment. There is a well developed culture between the employees.

    Cons

When people need technology assistance, It always seems to be an emergency. Maybe management could loosen their grip on their employees a little bit so they do not feel like their life hangs in the balance with every word document.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep making positive strides and keep making the safety improvements i have seen implemented in my short time with PG&E.
