I have been working at Pearle Vision full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Could work life balance, flexibility to work at your pace and there is no micromanaging. You earn a little commissions.

    Cons

No room for growth. There are hardly any raises. Alot of things are set in stone even though there are efficient way of doing things.

I worked at Pearle Vision full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Compensation was good and commissions were ok. I enjoyed the training. This company is very much into new technology. Full time employees receive a free pair of glasses each year for themselves or a dependent.

    Cons

This company is not very good with their yearly raise in pay. A person can work as hard as possible, know a good job was done, and still be rated average or below. This company gave the lowest raises I ever had.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Positive reviews go a long way to create job satisfaction. It is important to an employee to feel valued by the company.

I worked at Pearle Vision full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Learned a lot about eyewear, optician duties and diseases of the eye.

    Cons

Seemed ridiculous to automatically preappoint people for the following year, then start calling them to make a "real" appointment. Too much emphasis on saying the same thing to every customer. So much to learn but not a lot of great training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure to spend more one on one time training.

Great pay, but with no real benefits or consistent management or business practices.

I have been working at Pearle Vision full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Every location is different. Most locations are privately franchised and have very different atmospheres. As a current employee of a local franchise, I can say that I am extremely satisfied with the freedoms that I have with each customer. If I want to make up a deal, I can! --- However, the lack of consistency is also a huge downfall of the company.

    Cons

Some locations are so unorganized that it carries across to patients and customers that they are in a different franchise all together. Some (mostly corporate locations) can sometimes be too sales driven and lacking in patient care. But corporate stores and franchises don't share any information with each-other and it makes even the smallest warranty a mess. IE: When you have a warranty - you should be able to go from one store to another and be serviced the same - for the same price. Depending on which Pearle you're at - you can find the same frame at four different prices, the same lens at four different prices, and the same contacts at four different prices.

And also with the individually owned practices, most offer little or no benefits. I was actually told to apply for state funded health care.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would advise consistency. When you go into a Starbucks, you can get a cup of coffee that tastes the same no matter where you go. With Pearle, it's night and day depending on the associate you get. I wish there was more direction from our corporate office...

I worked at Pearle Vision part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Flexible hours, low stress job.

    Cons

Even though i was making top sales in the region every month since the beginning of my employment there, my first performance review was "satisfactory" only because I didn't have seniority. I thought it was supposed to be performance review rather than seniority review.
