    Good place to start

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    Prossmart developers(mostly contractors)explores new technologies,playing it safe now,modern office,good cafeteria,free snacks,coffe,hot choclate,fruits,breakfast,cereals,soda machine,candy,etc.

Conspolitics, doesn't absorb talented contractors, few managers only want to do repetitive support work so that his and his team keeps going on.Puts hurdles in automation and hides facts.Few managers are in-sure about there turfs.Few managers doesn't like his sub ordinates speaking up with better ideas than him and stops allowing them in meetings hence stopping innovation and better ideas.

    Good company overall

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsRelaxed culture not a suit kind of organization. Good culture of open door policy.

ConsExecutive leadership is disengaged with most levels below them and little to no recognition that they make a lot of changes for this large of a company and they expect the teams to accept and implement changes with little to no planning time.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to engage your field leadership better and utilize their knowledge in the planning stages for major change to better understand the timeframes to implement the needed changes.

Great until activist investors got in!!

Senior Level (Current Employee) Oakbrook Terrace, IL (US)

ProsThe company used to have some great talent in the technology space around chicago land area and they still do. Great benefits and pays relatively well

ConsUntil about 2 years Redbox was operating as a standalone unit. Changes in the management, especially when the technology leaders from redbox left - they were filled in by the corporate outerwall personnel. From that point on they have transitioned over to an less creative, enterprise mode operational environment.
Add insult to injury, activist investors got in and they started the cost-cutting initiatives.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou have some great talent and please make sure they don't leave because of an increasingly less creative environment.

Good place to pursue a great career

Middle Management (Current Employee) Oakbrook Terrace, IL (US)

ProsThere may be times you need to work more, but we value work life balance. Great benefits. smart and dedicated peers. offers new oppurtunities, internal career growth is immense.

Conswork in all kinds of elements and time constraints, Middle and Upper management unsure of how to execute and what new ideas to pursue. No idea how to deflect Netflix and streaming offerings in general. Continually starting and stopping new business as if they never tested the idea in market.

Great experience as a contractor at Redbox

Senior Analyst (Former Employee) Oakbrook Terrace, IL (US)

ProsI encountered great people, a friendly environment, cutting edge technologies, and plenty of opportunity to learn and contribute.

ConsWith recent cost cutting efforts by redbox's parent Outerwall, employee benefits, salaries, bonuses, and perks are being squeezed.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop operating teams in silos. Not enough sharing of ideas and processes between the different lines of businesses. Teams need to be more cross-functional. Executive management also needs to educate itself more on agile and lean concepts.

    Was a great company....

Regional Manager (Current Employee) Costa Mesa, CA (US)

ProsVery generous compensation. Great benefits. Great feild employees

ConsCorporate has no idea what field employees are put through. They are given more and more work but no more hours to get it done. Field managers and RM's under a great deal to do magic. If not no matter how long you have been there they are willing to kick you to the curb! Very sad.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your field employees like you value them. Let the Regional Managers manage their own style. Not everyone manages by intimidation.

Great atmosphere, lack of executive direction/vision

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Oakbrook Terrace, IL (US)

ProsWorking environment, informal dress code, mostly great people

ConsLeadership seems very reactionary, with little longer-term vision. Coinstar culture has killed much of the entrepreneurial spirit that used to make redbox exciting to work for. It has gotten more political, with business teams expanding quickly without corresponding investment in technology...not enough vetting of ideas before having tech spend time on them; then there is little accountability and ROI calculation after implementation.

Advice to Senior ManagementGo back to basics, reward teams that actually show measurable value

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
