    Pros

Company with amazing history and great products. Successful in both commercial and government work. Room to grow, especially for engineers. New CEO has potential to bring a lot of good change to the company.

    Cons

Midwest prejudice and exclusion attitude hold it back from being a truly international company. Bullying behavior such as yelling, berating, and backstabbing is tolerated. Salaries for technical but non-engineering positions are not competitive. Engineers treated like rockstars, everyone else not so much. Performance review system creates competition and bitterness among employees rather than fostering teamwork and loyalty to company.

    Advice to Management

The corporate culture of Iowa is better than everyone else has to improve. It's great to be proud of your state and country, but not great to berate all other sites for not being in Iowa. If you want to be a global company, EVERYONE needs to start thinking globally not just those at international sites. Resistance to hiring at remote sites needs to stop.

    Pros

Friendly, helpful employees that will show you everything you need to learn. Atmosphere is quiet and laid back. Salary is better than most and its a publicly traded company,so stock options are available as well as medical dental...etc

    Cons

The software the company uses needs to be UPDATED.,little behind the times. Since the company was bought out it needs some uniformity within all offices and management needs to learn to speak with the employees...not just supervisors.

    Advice to Management

YOU NEED MORE PEOPLE! START HIRING!!

    Pros

Amazing engineering infrastructure. Very high quality employees in general, in engineering. Very strong product portfolio - lots of work to do. Very interesting technologies to work with as well. All the best engineering tools are available.

    Cons

Huge company. Definitely over-procedured. I've been here 5 years and I still don't have my arms around all the processes and procedures. Ambiguous chain of command. Lots of very young managers managing much older engineering population with mixed results. Support groups don't.

    Advice to Management

Add a process (I know, another one) to vet management candidates and then train them adequately once they are promoted to the position. Eliminate Component Engineering and just let the engineers do the function. We do it now anyway, most of the time.

    Pros

Great experience, friendly and helpful colleagues. You will have many opportunities for hands on experience which will be very valuable.

    Cons

Depending on your manager, it could take you a while to get to the next engineering level (i.e. Eng I to Eng II or Eng II to Eng III). My manager thought it took 4-5 years to go from an Eng I to an Eng II. Also, annual evaluations are typical if you are a new employee. You can already expect to get hit with: "Needs more experience and needs to know (insert product line or job here) better."

    Advice to Management

The evaluation process seems a bit rigged. Feels like the old: "Well everyone can't get an A in the class" excuse. If a team is full of great engineers, no one should have to take low marks just because "somebody needs to be the goat".

    Pros

Paid at 102% when compared to some one else with similar education and experience, up to 13% annual bonus based on companies performance.

    Cons

Annual pay raise was a joke, but the annual bonus made up for it. Health care went from OK to bottom of the bucket. No longer active in the IC.

    Pros

    - Good company
    - Diversity and inclusion are two of the core values in Rockwell so it really feels like you are home and welcome.
    - The technologies is not the top or the most up-to-date technology because of the nature of avionics. Avionics industry do not change between programs that much to minimize impact on aircraft certification. The process is really great, there is a solid reason behind each step in the process.
    - Huge company with a lot of opportunities to move from department/group to another
    - good management in general

    Cons

-The pay is less than national median
-The cedar rapids is kind of small without much of activities, but in 4 hours (drive) you could be anywhere you want (chicago, kansas, st. luis, omaha, Madison/Milwaukee, Minneapolis) so it could go both ways good or bad.

    Advice to Management

    - management should focus more on the career development plan for engineers. that way the engineers would feel more appreciated and they would become better engineers on the long run.
    - management should take the evaluation process more seriously where they should survey the opinions of projects leads to assess engineers level more accurately.
