I have been working at Seagate Technology full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The shift pattern is probably the best positive side to working as a Production Operator. 4 x 12 hour Shifts and then 4 days off. The health care plan is good but increasing excess charges are eroding it's popularity.

    Cons

Never have i ever worked in a company where there are so many managers. we have managers with nobody to manage. 35% Shift Workers to 65% day staff. WD produce as many and varied drives as we do with far less staff thus increasing their profit margin on each one sold. Dissemination of information from the top to the production floor leaves a lot to be desired.
Tools left idle due to the lack of spare parts. Ageing tools that are hard to source spare parts for. For this production facility to move into the next generation of media storage requires a very large investment in up to date tools and a serious overhaul in how the facility is managed and run.
Finally for a world leader why are we always playing catchup with new markets and technology. We have missed the boat more times than a drunken sailor on shore leave...
Nice to see that you are finally taking SSD seriously with your recent acquisitions...

I have been working at Seagate Technology full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Good Working Environment
    2. Good employee benefit

    Cons

    1. Too much politics at work. Manager requested his staffs to frame, sabotage his competitors eg. the staffs / director / departmental manager.
    2. Need to pay manager's entertainment fee after office hours.
    3. IT manager without knowing IT technical knowledge.
    4. Company has further study sponsorship policy for employees. But manager rejected my application. I applied 4 years' for further study, but success neither.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Top management must be very careful of the working cultures. Don't tolerate manager playing too much politic game. Requests them to put more focus on work instead of politic game.
    2. Need to review manager's competency and working attitude.
    3. Most of the engineers dissatisfied with the performance of IT department.
    4. Need to put more regards pertaining to many senior staffs' leaving.

I have been working at Seagate Technology

    Pros

Good benefits, and some great people

    Cons

It's big, and the management layers are thick. Biggest company I've ever worked for, so often feel distanced from "where it happens". Dearth of women in management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look around for people to promote from within rather than recruiting so heavily outside...and make an effort to seek out well-qualified women for the management team.

I have been working at Seagate Technology full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Not a high stress environment, Seagate Way is a good idea

    Cons

Upper management does not embrace the Seagate Way. Each year another benefit is taken away (Stock options, RSUs, earned vacation time, PPO). Is upper management trying to tell us something?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring back RSUs and earned vacation time based on longevity if you value your employees.
