Sheffield, England

Current Employee – been working at Siemens AG

ProsOne of the best reasons to work for Siemens MT is the excellent travel opportunities and the advancement within Siemens' different divisions and not just MT. The place has excellent support structure with regards to colleagues supporting you. Flexible working hours and an understanding management are also excellent features.

ConsSimple things can be made quite complicated when working for Siemens MT as there are a large number of procedures that staff have to follow. This is helped by the fact that there are staff that are there to help you on these tasks.

Current Employee – been working at Siemens AG

ProsSmall specialised group in Berlin with focus on the employees. Good contact with higher management of the group, they really try to care... Open-minded and multicultural team with very high level of techical know-how and skills...at least for the moment. Good salary.

ConsDon't even think about a family, it's impossible. The future doesn't look so nice, quite a lot of projects (75%) in dangerous countries. Very specialised job, hard to think about other career opportunities. Massive and not qualified project management team.

Advice to Senior ManagementSaving money on the engineers, the last group within Siemens who makes profit is a bad idea. Facing with a completely amateur project management is demotivating and scary. If you lose the experienced engineers, you will lose quality and the chance for technical knowledge transfer to new generation.

Former Employee – worked at Siemens AG full-time for more than 7 years

ProsLong term employment, decent overall benefits package, a lot of opportunity to travel internationally and learn about other cultures through working with non-US colleagues, the company doesn't generally make knee-jerk decisions.

ConsIt helps A LOT to be German...if you are in a group where hard decisions need to be made, German employees (due to their employment laws) will get preferential treatment. Salary (not other benefits) tends to be slightly lower than what you can get at a strong US competitor in the same area.

Dubai (United Arab Emirates)

Former Employee – worked at Siemens AG as an intern for less than a year

ProsBlue- chip company in dynamic environment. Good package including all expenses covered (i.e. flat, flight and car). Exposure to C-level meetings.

ConsAs the intern was at its large Middle East HQ, it was sometimes difficult to get much advice and feedback from very busy managers
