I worked at Siemens full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Worked there as a Graduate Software Tester. Great people to work with. Amazing work culture and office environment. Very conveniently located in Oxford next to the station. Good travel opportunities.

    Cons

Career progression very limited. Need to work for quite a few years before you're considered for a promotion. Not paid very well too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a good relationship with your staff and encourage them to grow in their careers instead of simply plodding along.

I have been working at Siemens full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Large multi National which is full of opportunities provided you work hard and apply yourself. Good management / employee relationships.

    Cons

Very large - you can feel lost at times and communication is often difficult from top to bottom with the message not always getting through.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The recent global communication with Mr Kaesar was a unique event but showed a willingness to ensure the global messages were heard by all. More of the same but at different senior management levels (I.e. country or sector leads) would also help the communication machine in such a large.business.

I have been working at Siemens

    Pros

One of the best reasons to work for Siemens MT is the excellent travel opportunities and the advancement within Siemens' different divisions and not just MT. The place has excellent support structure with regards to colleagues supporting you. Flexible working hours and an understanding management are also excellent features.

    Cons

Simple things can be made quite complicated when working for Siemens MT as there are a large number of procedures that staff have to follow. This is helped by the fact that there are staff that are there to help you on these tasks.

    I worked at Siemens

    Pros

Compensation, benefits, training and workplace spirit are all excellent. LOTS of international exposure.

    Cons

The global product strategy is just pitiful. Siemens strategy is put a square peg in a round hole, no matter what! Just keep pounding, it will eventually fit. Communications between operational units is very bad. (HQ -> regions OK) Any crumbs of creativity are beaten out of employees in the first few years. Either you go with the global product plan, or just give up and leave. Innovation anywhere but the EU is disregarded

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Loosen up! Your employees are not trying to steal from you. They really want Siemens to succeed, so LISTEN to what they have to say!
