    Pros

Decent salary, good benefits, and good bonuses (if you can get one)

    Cons

Typically hazardous environment for a steel mill, also worked with dangerous chemicals (i.e. chrome six), rotating schedule that has been statistically shown to knock years off your life.

    Advice to Management

Continue cost saving efforts, reward those who use their ingenuity, and do more analysis of various processes and operations to optimize profitability.

    Pros

Interesting place to work, but the corporation is very heavily structured, which leaves little room for innovation. Work-Life balance was good for staff, but operations sucks. Easy to stand out by working hard, however you won't necessarily get anything for the extra work.

    Cons

People promoted based on tenure and not merit. Difficult to get everyone to work together for a common end goal. Reactive procedures that are to short sighted.

    Advice to Management

Rating system should not take 6 months and employees should be assessed on merit and value to the company.

    Pros

Different fascist of the job skills used. You work with AC and DC. Overhead cranes and PLC'S.

    Cons

Steel sector market wise is a roller coaster. Job stability year to year is always a issue.

    Pros

Decent pay. Could work from home one day a week, managers weren't overly concerned about an employee being tied to their desk

    Cons

over emphasis on saving money, to the point of being unreasonable, having to be on call at times, even in a non-steel making function

  6. Great pay, unmatched benefits for hourly workers

    Pros

Decent working environment. Willing to spend on travel, entertainment, education opportunities etc.

    Cons

You can't penetrate management. Communication is extremely siloed. Talking to a member of upper management will get you in trouble

    Advice to Management

lighten up. A lot of good people are leaving or have been shown the door because you didint take out middle management

    Pros

Most of people work hard, do a very good job and are willing to help. Work environment is generally good. Overall new management ideas seem to be concentrating on the right priorities.

    Cons

Some of the mangers still seem to rely on how things have been done in the past. Some of the recent personnel cuts hurt morale and work environment.

    Advice to Management

Might be good to do more to encourage current employees to stay, as well to attract new employees. Losing experience is more costly than people may realize.

    Pros

United Steel provides you with an opportunity to experience multiple areas of the technological world and how to incorporate it on a corporate scale.

    Cons

Upper management is in a desperate need of revitalization. Seems like they are not to open to allowing younger talent to take the lead
