- Online application
- Online tests
- Assessment centre
Assessment centre comprised of:
- two 1-1 interviews:
These were slightly unfair as there were 6 interviewers, and each took a different style. Some people were just asked competency questions, some people had no brain teasers, and some had very technical interviews. I can't really offer helpful advice as having spoken to the candidates there, each interview was very different from the next- some people had much harder interviews than others.
- presentation:
Revise stock portfolios and know about the market and where to invest - you will be given a brief to write your own presentation, it will not be a case study.
- lunch
- group presentation:
Very self-explanatory when you get to it
- maths test:
Very easy. Revise percentage changes and be sure you know how to convert currencies if you don't already.

Interview Details Phone Interview was very simple - only lasted about 10 mins. Assessment centre was stress-free and would be easy if you have the right knowledge, unfortunately I did not. Although they say that a student of any numerate discipline can do this role, they did expect knowledge of stochastic calculus and detailed pricing formulae. The assessment centre would be basic for anyone with detailed knowledge of these subjects or formal mathematical finance.

Interview Details It was one of the best interviews I had at BoA. I had 2 interviews and both of them with senior members of the department and with solid functional and Technology experience behind them, I've really enjoyed the interview not because they have asked me the questions for which I know the answers, but it was their style of interview. The one good thing in my interview was it was a perfect fit so it was easy for both parties

It was an assessment center, consisting of a numerical test, a writing report, a group exercise and 2 1:1 interviews.
Regarding the interviews, they focused on your motivations to get the job, on the competencies needed, an don basic finance knowledge. Some questions: what do you think the euro will do during the year? where would you invest? why are you applying for this job? could you explain a situation where you showed ...?
There were no brainteasers nor guestimates.
I felt really comfortable during the interview, that seemed more a chat than a formal interview. That helped me explain what I wanted without pressure.

I got a telephone interview that was limited to 30 minutes.
The first 10 minutes was all about the interviewer explaining the department structure and how he expected to develop his team and what he expected the candidate to do. He then went into how many people he was interviewing and how many he expected to give second interviews and then third interviews to.
After establishing that I was still interested he started asking me about my knowledge of derivatives then about my technical IT skills. He asked me about derivatives pricing models which is something I knew nothing about.
I got a little chance to ask questions and I found out that I would be working one week in one office and the other week in a different office.
The interview was quite frustrating as the 30 minute time meant I couldn't say as much as I wanted or ask as much as I wanted.
In the end I wasn't offered the job as I didn't have enough experience but I wasn't bothered as I really didn't want to do the hot desking.
