Sales Associate at Best Buy

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Mays Landing, NJ (US) Jun 2013 – Reviewed Jun 13, 2013 New

Interview Details Applied for the job, got a call a few days later. This is considered the first interview and generally cover your availability as well as whether you still want the job, but most importantly to see if you sound confident. I scheduled an interview for the next day. Made sure to dress well, white button down shirt and khakis as well as dress shoes.

Showed up for the interview 15 minutes early as expected of any interview, and met with a supervisor. This was the second interview, and one of the important ones, as this will determine whether I'm worth getting to the final interview. I sat down with him, and we talked about availability and how I would fit in with them, as well as my experience and what my job duties were at my previous employment. That went on for a good 30 mins or so and after going to the back room for a few minutes, he came back out and scheduled the next interview two days later.

Showed up for the last interview dressed the same, and spoke with the general manager. This is where they decide if you get the job or not. Generally answered the same questions as before, and he asked about what I knew about the store as well as my hobbied. By the end he said that since I had sales experience, which is extremely important for Best Buy, as well as a good knowledge of computers (I told him I had a MacBook and an HP laptop, and I wanted to learn more about Linux as well.) He was going to hire me for Computers. After that the basic instruction sheet with next steps and how employment is contingent upon background check and drug test, and that I'd get the offer after that's done.

Just come off confident, and try to talk about what you like about electronics as well as what you're most knowledgeable in. I had originally applied for Multi-Channel Sales Associate but was then put in Computers based on my knowledge. Just because you may not be the right fit for one job doesn't mean they won't try to find a place for you, just be confident and dress well and show that you can learn fast and can sell.

Sales Consultant at Best Buy

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Atlanta, GA (US) Jun 2013 – Reviewed Jun 13, 2013 New

Interview Details I applied online 2 weeks after I applied for the Sales Consultant position in the Computer/Tablets department. I was expected the next day. Basically It was a quick process of questions, name a time where you had to go out of your way for a customer, dealing with angry customers, my knowledge of computers and tablets, and some other situational questions that weren't difficult at all if you have previous job experience. Immediately after the interview i was asked to do a second interview the next day with the GM. The next day, had an interview, and was hired on the spot.

Interview Question – None were really difficult, just asked why you want to work at Best Buy.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Well the negotiation was limited, i made $8 hourly at a previous job, so we negotiated for $8.50. i didn't hassle about it.

Geek Squad, Agent (CIA) at Best Buy

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Sioux City, IA (US) Jan 2009 – Reviewed Jun 13, 2013 New

Interview Details Submitted application online. Heard nothing for two weeks, went in store and talked to the Operations senior who set up an interview for the next week. Had a 1:1 interview with one manager, then heard nothing for two weeks. Came back in and had another 1:1 interview set up with another manager for the next week. Went well and he said I should expect to be hired soon.

Heard nothing for another week or so. Came in and had yet another 1:1 interview set up with a third manager, who said all my paperwork had been lost so he had to ask me all the questions again. This time he said the position had already been given to somebody else so I was to start out in customer service instead. Saw the second manager on the way out, who assumed I had already been hired. They contacted me about orientation a couple weeks after that.

Interview Question – How would you explain a bad sector to somebody who doesn't know anything about computers?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – They told me what the starting pay was, and there was no negotiation.

Sales Associate at Best Buy

No Offer – Interviewed in Tracy, CA (US) Aug 2012 – Reviewed Jun 13, 2013 New

Interview Details I was in between jobs and decided to give Best buy a chance. The Online app was very typical to fill out. it took me about 25 minutes to complete. Upon completion, i called best buy and spoke to hiring manager who then scheduled an interview date. The day of interview I show up early and wait and hour and 30 minutes due to his scheduling issues. I finally made it in to his office which was a tiny dirty "Storage Closet". We proceded with the interview which i thought went never well. I was told i would get a call from him whether i got the job or not. I never received a call and called back a week later and he stated and i quote "Oh, we already filled the position". I was pretty bummed but happy in the long run because i got a better job down the road. I defiantly feel like i was over qualified for the job!

Interview Question – It was a very base interview. The most "difficult" question was Sell me this pen.   View Answer

Asset Protection Associate at Best Buy

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Waldorf, MD (US) Oct 2012 – Reviewed Jun 12, 2013 New

Interview Details Applied online in September 2012. Had a phone interview about two weeks later, then two more in person interviews at the store. The first was with an assistant manager and a department supervisor , the second and final in person interview was with the store's general manager. You dont reach the general manager unless their offering you a job. I applied for a warehouse position and a geek squad position. The GM put me in the computer's department because of my personality. I transferred to the warehouse when a spot became available and then to AP when I noticed my weekly hours drift into the teens. Honestly working here you will only make decent money during the holiday seasons and forget about raises because management is extremely frugal with them. Ever heard of a $.01 raise? Neither did I until I came here.

Interview Question – They were all just standard interview questions, common sense can go a long way in this hiring process.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – No negotiation phase you accept the base pay or lose the offer. However because of my past security experience I had a bargaining chip when negotiating my change to AP and was able to get a higher pay rate than originally offered.

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in North Richland Hills, TX (US) – Reviewed Jun 11, 2013 New

Interview Details Applied with recomendations of current employees. Was contacted and asked to come in for an interview. Was asked quite a bit about my previous job experience and how it would relate to the position at the store. Many other questions were the more straight forward ones such as why would you like to work here? Strenghths? Weaknesses? Was asked to present my knowledge about the products in the store. after the interview I was offered the job and after drug testing came back in to fill out necessary paperwork.

Interview Question – One of the more difficult questions was being asked to role play selling service plans to a customer.   View Answer
