Interview Details

Two phone interviews. The first is pretty informal, they make sure you are aware that the position is a call center position, and provide you with additional information about the job. There is a few basic questions about your previous experience.

Second phone interview is more formal. Many "Tell me about a situation when you encountered ---, and how did you handle it. " Most of these are teamwork or customer service oriented.

A face to face interview may be given after this second phone interview

The process took 4 weeksinterviewed at Fidelity Investments.

    Interview Details

I applied online. I had someone call me for a phone screening with basic questions for about 15 minutes. Scheduled a phone interview a week later that lasted a hour. They were mostly customer service related questions and things from past experiences. Interviewer said she would call back in a few weeks to schedule a onsite tour and interview with managers. A group of 10-12 people toured the facility and took some type of personality test and then met with a manager and a supervisor for individual interviews. Same questions were asked on the phone interview. I thought it was a standard process. Hired next day

I applied through college or university. The process took 1+ weekinterviewed at Fidelity Investments in October 2014.

Was contacted by recruiter to set up initial phone interview. They were very fast to get this set up and move forward in the process. The interview is expected to be about one hour long and is fairly in-depth.

    Interview Questions
    • They have a very strong emphasis on behavioral interview questions and are looking for very specific answers. Tell me about a time when... Prepare for the questions because it will be a deal breaker if you do not answer them properly.   Answer Question

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at Fidelity Investments.

    Interview Details

After applying online I was contacted by local HR to do a screening interview. It consisted of standard questions like "what do you know about financial services?" and "are you currently following the stock market?". Overall, relatively basic info to pass to the next phone interview. This one was more detailed, and they go over your resume fairly thoroughly.

Submitted resume online for FR position at multiple branches and received a call from the recruiter within 2 weeks. Basic phone screening regarding background and interest in the position. Passed the screening and the recruiter set me up on a interview with the branch manager for the following day. I interviewed with the branch manager and other FR's, lasted about 2 hours total. Unfortunately I did not get that position, but the branch manager was impressed and recommended for another branch. Met with the Service Manger, lasted about 45minutes, basic questions on background and why I wanted to work in the industry and for fidelity. I received a call a week later to meet with the Branch Manager. The interview was pretty simple, as long has you are passionate about customer service. They really put a huge emphasis on the customer experience and we spend a great deal of time talking about my past as it relates to providing excellent customer service. The branch manager also had me roll play as if I had the position and she was a walk in. Caught me off guard, but I guess I did well!

Two phone, one in person. The first two calls are to make sure you can speak coherently over the phone, since all client interactions are done over the phone. If you pass, you then have an in person interview on a super day with two managers. Two on one.

I applied online – interviewed at Fidelity Investments in August 2014.

This review is to cover the initial 20 minute phone call with the recruiter. They are extremely transparent about what they can provide for you. He covered salary, benefits, and a very detailed schedule of the job. He expressed how hard the company worked for you to be successful. Training is 12 weeks from 8-5pm. One thing they don't put on the job posting is that you will be working in a call center, tied to a phone 90% of the day. You will also be given shifts that range between the hours of 7am-11pm Monday-Saturday. Night an weekend work required. This is a starting position and you can work your way up between 6-12 months. Most of the hiring is done internally. Everyone living with you (even if you are not dating/married) is required to move all of their investments over to Fidelity. If you have a live in-this may be a deal breaker for you.

    Interview Questions
    • They really look people passionate about finance. I don't know much, but they didn't seemed bothered. Why do you want to leave your job now? What do you like most about your job (they asked 3 separate times, looking for 3 different answers)? Can you work nights an weekends? What can we do for you, what are you looking for in a company?   Answer Question

    What I experience:

First, an informational call with description of job responsibilities to see if you are a good fit. Second, I had an phone interview with one of the HR workers, and after the same interview I was invited to come in to meet with the managers on site. Then after the face-to-face interview with in a day I got the call for an offer. Not took long for everything, if anything I made the process longer because I was interested in different locations.

I applied online. The process took 6 weeksinterviewed at Fidelity Investments in July 2014.

    Interview Details

Three-tiered interview process, all with standard interview questions. Not too many curveballs. The first is a telephone interview with a recent hire who has one year's experience in the position applied for from the local office (and has transferred to HR). Second is with a senior HR manager and may be from another office located somewhere else in the US. If you pass both interviews, you'll get to tour the facility with a group of candidates. Get there 5-10 minutes early so you don't leave the group waiting. There will be a brief presentation about the company by a senior manager, followed by the tour and finally, an interview with two hiring managers.

It was a great experience, that I unfortunately blew, as it was my first serious interview in a long time. I've applied numerous times since and will continue to apply until I get it, or something better. This had the feel of a great place to start a career.

They were incredibly kind, helpful, and understanding. If you don't have a lot of experience in customer service, you probably won't get the job, though. If you're fresh out of college without a background as a CSR, work for a while in retail or another customer relations-job first.

They are incredibly candid and helpful in letting you know precisely why they pass you over; and you'll have tons of time to prepare for the interview. Use it.

    Interview Questions
    • Why are you interested in a career in finance? There really isn't a good answer for this question. I've talked to people who "were always interested in finance" or who "took a class in school and found it interesting" who had strong backgrounds in the field who were passed over because they failed to articulate that question effectively. Just do your due-diligence, but don't sweat it. They're really looking for people who are interested in provided the strongest customer service possible. Articulate that, and you should be golden.   Answer Question
