Audit Associate at McGladrey LLP

No Offer – Interviewed in Tysons Corner, VA (US) Oct 2012 – Reviewed Oct 28, 2012

Interview Details I had an on-campus interview with a Director (Manager), and got an email to come in for an office visit. The HR Recruiters were very friendly, energetic, and proud to work for the firm. I interviewed with a Partner, then a Senior Associate. The Partner was more formal, and the Senior Associate was more informal and they both just walked through my resume and interest in the firm.

Intern at McGladrey LLP

Accepted Offer – Interviewed on Tysons Corner, VA (US) Oct 2012 – Reviewed Oct 15, 2012

Interview Details Did a first round of interviews at my school, they got back to me quickly (within a few days) and invited me up to their office in Vienna/Tyson's Corner for a final round of interviews. On the day of my final interviews, they provided transportation from my school for me and 10 other students in the form of a Hummer Limo. We got there and had breakfast and introductions, then did two approximately 30-45 minute interviews. Usually one is with a newer, lower-level employee and the other with an upper-level manager/director/partner etc. Then, we were given a quick tour and lunch before finally leaving. The people were all awesome. I received the formal offer 3 hours later and accepted....best experience ever by far!

Interview Question – The interviews were not difficult, mine were simply one-on-one and conversational. However, if you aren't prepared with a lot of questions and aren't able to ad lib off of their responses, you might struggle. Be comfortable and confident, but also give clear and definitive responses. Don't say you'll do anything they want, say you want audit or tax and even profit/non-profit if you want it. Also, if you want the job ASK FOR IT. At the end of my interview I gave a little last pitch about how I really wanted the position and that they were my number 1 choice (but only say it if you mean it, which i did).   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – They offered, and I accepted.

Accepted Offer – Interviewed on Minneapolis, MN (US) Oct 2011 – Reviewed Oct 10, 2012

Interview Details After submitting my resume and other application materials online, I was invited to the office for an interview. There were several other candidates visiting the office that same day. I had two interviews, each 30 minutes long. I spoke with a Manager and a Partner in Tax. The questions they asked were conversational, mainly dealing with my work style and experience.

Interview Question – I was asked about how comfortable I am doing research and using my findings practically.   Answer Question

Tax Associate at McGladrey LLP

No Offer – Reviewed Oct 05, 2012

Interview Details The interview process was pretty laid back. Most of the interviewers were only trying to get to know me better, and they hardly asked me any questions. I talked to three different interviewers, and the interview took a total of two hours.

Interview Question – Describe a situation where you were a leader. Describe a situation where there was conflict and how you resolved it.   Answer Question

Human Resources at McGladrey LLP

No Offer – Interviewed in Chicago, IL (US) – Reviewed Oct 04, 2012

Interview Details Great people to talk to. Met with recruiter and HR in corporate first, then with leaders in the regional office. The job ended up going to someone internal. I'm thinking I was the token interview for comparison sake. That being said, I would have enjoyed working with the people I met. They are very professional and seem to have their priorities in line where employees are concerned.

Interview Question – No difficult or unexpected questions. The regional people seemed as if their time was being wasted. Another clue for me. If you have behavioral responses down, you'll do fine.   Answer Question

Intern at McGladrey LLP

No Offer – Reviewed Sep 25, 2012

Interview Details I was interviewed by a partner who I could tell right off the bad did not like me. I could tell she really did not like being there. There was a focus on behavioral questions, and really trying to push the actual topic away from auditing.

Interview Question – How would your friend's describe you if they were only allowed to use one word?   Answer Question
