Declined Offer – Reviewed Apr 22, 2013
Interview Details Four Interviews total. Interview one seemed like they were trying to sell you on the company. Interview two was a compensation interview. Interview three was a training interview. Interview four was the acceptance interview.
Interview Question – I asked the questions. They barely asked me any. Answer Question
Reason for Declining – Pay is performance based and I did not feel comfortable with the current staff at the office.
Declined Offer – Reviewed Apr 08, 2013
Interview Details It was more of a sales pitch then anything else. They tell you what you're going to be doing and why its such a great job, the truth is there are 5 other companies within 10 miles that will hire you to do the exact same thing. These jobs are 100% commission based and cost the company almost nothing to hire you on. The interview was pretty laid back though, nice people. If I was interested in selling investment plans and life insurance, Id work there.
Interview Question – If I asked your best friend 5 characteristics that describe you, what would they be? Answer Question
Reason for Declining – Not interested in 100% commission job
Accepted Offer – Reviewed Feb 19, 2013
Interview Details The initial interview was with the Managing Partner, and the Human Resources Manager. It was essentially a "get to know you" interview, in which I assume they were simply determining whether or not my personality was a good fit for the company. They gave me a Personality Test to complete, as well as a list of questions regarding my life goals to answer and bring back upon my second interview.
Interview Question – What are my goals over the next 3-5 years, both financially and personally? Answer Question
Accepted Offer – Interviewed on Burlington, MA (US) Jul 2012 – Reviewed Feb 15, 2013

No Offer – Interviewed in Orlando, FL (US) Nov 2012 – Reviewed Dec 16, 2012
Interview Details Multiple interviews. Second interview seemed to be more of a sales presentation to me based on potential compensation.
Interview Question – Basic interview. No different or more difficult than any other interview. Answer Question
Declined Offer – Reviewed Dec 15, 2012
Interview Details I was first contacted and had a basic interview with the recruiter. This went fine and then I was scheduled for a second interview with the branch manager. This was a different interview than I normally have. They were trying to sell the company to me and not the other way around. After this I had another interview / informational meeting because the second one was with another employee not the manager because he was busy.
Declined Offer – Interviewed in Grand Rapids, MI (US) Oct 2012 – Reviewed Dec 05, 2012
Interview Details Multiple interview process. First Interview was mostly spent talking about previous job experiences in the financial industry. Second Interview was further discussion about the company, the position, and the compensation structure. There was also plenty of time for question and answer in both interviews. Interviews were very comfortable and more of a conversation back and forth rather than the interviewer asking all of the questions.
Interview Question – Given past experience, what qualifies you most for this position? Answer Question
No Offer – Interviewed in Boston, MA (US) Aug 2012 – Reviewed Nov 28, 2012
Interview Details Very informal interview, last 1 hour
Interview Question – Figure a salary when is no salary Answer Question
Declined Offer – Interviewed in Feb 2012 – Reviewed Nov 20, 2012
Interview Details I first met the New York Life representative at a college career fair. We exchanged contact information and set up the interview shortly thereafter. The interview was an odd experience. I believe I was only asked two or three questions in total. The questions were basic and straight forward. Honestly, I felt like he was selling the company to me, rather than interviewing me. He explained how NYL is a great company to work for, how much money I'd be making, etc.
Interview Question – There weren't any difficult questions. Answer Question
Reason for Declining – The interview was the first of what I understand is three. After the interview, I was told to contact the interviewer if I was still interested in the position.
Declined Offer – Interviewed in Beverly Hills, CA (US) Oct 2012 – Reviewed Oct 28, 2012
Interview Details I applied online and was invited to interview through a phone call. I was interviewed by the Recruiting Coordinator and the interview was your basic behavioral interview, about 20 minutes. There was also a good amount of time that the coordinator spent praising the company and the people that worked there. After the interview, I was taken to a private room with a computer where I answered basic questions about myself and my behavior, which mostly seemed to focus on my approach to sales and how I deal with difficult customers. The office was very empty as many of the agents were out with clients (this was 10am on a Tuesday).
Interview Question – How do you take rejection? Answer Question
Reason for Declining – I only got an offer for a second interview with the senior partner, but I declined as I wasn't interested in a sales position and chose another position I felt more comfortable in.
