Interview Details I submitted my application through their online system. In a couple days, someone from the HR department called me and asked a few behavior questions, what challenges have I overcome? Tell about a time when you took initiative. Very generic and took about 15 minutes. At the end of the phone interview, she asked me to come in for a in person interview. At the store, I was greeted and taken to their back offices. I first sat with the HR lady I had talked to on the phone and answered a few more generic behavioral questions that related to sales. She asked me which departments I was interested in working in and introduced me to the manager of one of those departments. The department manager asked me to pretend like she was a customer and try and sell her some clothes. The whole in store interview process took about an hour. The next day, the HR lady called and told me that the department manager I had hired decided to go with someone else but she wanted to find another department for me to work in. I went in for another interview at the shoe department that was similar to the one I had before. The HR lady later called and told me that I had gotten the job at the shoe department.

Interview Details The interview process took a little bit longer than I thought, as I originally thought that I did very well in the interview but was not called back for some time. Fortunately, I did get the job. The interview was great, but I would recommend being prepared to show your sales demonstration on the floor. Your manager will pretend to be a customer, and ask you something she/he is looking for. Provide a LOT of options, and go above and beyond what they ask. Take charge, and be confident. I suggest going in and checking out the floor layout prior to your interview, and be prepared to wow them with a selling performance that is up to par.
Interview Question – How do you feel about knowing your sales performance will be public knowledge to coworkers on a regular basis? Answer Question

Interview Details I met the department manager in the department and she took me into a separate room to go over some questions. They seemed like very basic retail questions just asking about previous experiences and how you might confront certain scenarios in the workplace/at Nordstrom. It was maybe 45 minutes long but she also explained a lot of what it is like to work there to me so it wasn't 45 minutes of hard interrogation.
Interview Question – I didn't really prepare at all but all of them were pretty expected. Just be familiar with what you have done recently that may involve skills you could use in retail. One of the questions was why do you want to work in this department and so make sure to have a specific reason for that department because otherwise they won't really have a reason to hire you as opposed to letting other departments taking you.
