Northwestern Mutual Financial Representative Interview

Posted Oct 13, 2012

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Williamsville, NY (US) – Reviewed Oct 13, 2012

Interview Details First interview was with the Director of Recruitment. This is followed by two online surveys/personality profiles. If you get through this, you will then meet with at least two people from the branch team. The first interview was not very hard and they keep it very conversational, which is relaxing. It seems the purpose of these interviews are mainly to weed out people who do not have the right personality type for the job. They want people interested in starting their own business, are independently driven, and motivated by success. Although it is easy to pick up on what kinds of answers they are looking for, I don't recommend it because the job is truly not for everyone. I remember hearing from an AXA Advisor once that something like 50% of Advisors leave the industry within their first four years.

Interview Question – What ultimately made you walk through the door today (for the interview)?   View Answer

Reason for Declining – The interviews are exciting and inspiring when you see the earning potential of Financial Representatives, but ultimately I did not think I would love the job as much as another I had an offer for

Other Details - I applied through a recruiter and the process took 1+ week.
