Customer Care Representative at Southwest Airlines

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Dec 2011 – Reviewed Mar 09, 2012

Interview Details Some phone tag time, but overall reasonable response time. First had an 'over the phone' interview, followed with clear instructions to complete paperwork and drug test and background testing, which was to completed after the phone and office 'one on one' interviews completed. The rest of the process was fairly fast and then 2 weeks wait there after till training class began. Trained for 6 weeks then entered into job position. Is followed with 90 day eval and 6 mos probation.

Legal at Southwest Airlines

Accepted Offer – Interviewed on Dallas, TX (US) Mar 2012 – Reviewed Mar 08, 2012

Interview Details This is a great company, and I did quite a bit of research on SWA after I received the call for an interview. The process is takes time and is stressful, but I think it is worth it. The company itself is really cool, and the culture there seems to be the same. They are very thorough, and they called all referenced and did a background check. DO NOT lie or embellish your resume or application. You can expect a phone interview and I had two in person interviews. One with a panel. The recruiter is a great asset so utilize them.

My advice is to dress nicely with a jacket. Be personable and know your stuff.

Interview Question – Why would you be an asset to SWA?   Answer Question

Ramp Agent at Southwest Airlines

No Offer – Interviewed in Feb 2012 – Reviewed Mar 01, 2012

Interview Details I revived the standard e-mail asking me to call the given number, leave a message and that someone would call me back for an interview. I called and left my information on her voice mail. I prepped myself and was on edge for days waiting for the call. One week went by, no call. So I replied to the e-mail (which I was told to do if I had any questions) due to a discrepancy in the e-mail and to ask about how long the average wait was for a phone interview. Another week goes by no call and no e-mail.

Week 3 after my call, I get a message from the phone interview recruiter telling me that she would only be taking calls for a short period of time and that if I would like to discuss the opportunity, I would need to call her back as soon as possible with my name, number and a time when I would be available for an interview.

I called back and gave a 4hr window that I would be available the next day. I sat at home for 4 hours(got in some much needed reading), no call. I called her again the next day and sent another e-mail.

The next week I got a message asking me to call back that day before 5pm. I called 4 times and got her voicemail each time. That was just a few days ago. I'll wait and see what happens next.

Intern at Southwest Airlines

Accepted Offer – Interviewed on Dallas, TX (US) Jun 2011 – Reviewed Feb 13, 2012

Interview Details I applied in April for the Fall internships. Yes, April. They get thousands of applicants so they need a lot of time to process the resumes. I was contacted for a phone interview, and a couple weeks later was contacted to complete an in-person interview at headquarters in Dallas. They flew me down and I had three interviews. These were very different than any I've had before. It was very much based on what my personality fit would be within the company, not just my personal accomplishments. Otherwise standard situational questions. I flew down in May for the interview and was contacted the second week of June notifying me I had been selected. Everyone is very nice, and even if you don't get past the phone interview, they will give you advice for improvement if you request it.

Interview Question – Tell me about how you show your Warrior Spirt and fun-LUVing attitude in past jobs?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – No negotiation at SWA.

Tax Intern at Southwest Airlines

No Offer – Interviewed in Oct 2011 – Reviewed Feb 01, 2012

Interview Details received an email from HR dept. asking for my resume and got a call from them to make an appointment for the phone interview. The phone interview was about 30 mins long. The recruiter was very friendly and professional. She introduced the requirement of the position first and continuously verify whether I have enough experience. After one week, I got an email notice. Overall, they need someone with previous tax experience( better to be work experience).

Customer Care Representative at Southwest Airlines

No Offer – Interviewed in Phoenix, AZ (US) Oct 2011 – Reviewed Nov 17, 2011

Interview Details Applied online October 8th. Was called October 19th for a phone interview appointment for the next day. Had my phone interview as scheduled; the interviewer was very friendly and fun. At the conclusion of the interview, I was PROMISED I would hear back by phone or email within TWO weeks as to whether I was among the fortunate few that would be moving on to an in-person interview. Two weeks passed and no notice. I let it go because I know they were phone-interviewing approximately 400 of the 800 who applied (I asked). Another week went by and still no response. So I emailed the woman who first contacted me by email with no response. I called the woman who interviewed me, but her voicemail answered. Three days later I finally got the rejection email. All told, the entire process from application to rejection was 40 days, and included 13 days of not receiving the correspondence I had been promised.

Nevertheless, I still respect SWA and will be a regular customer of theirs in the future. Truth be told, I wasn't going to be a good fit for the job. I just was willing to do the grunt work for 12-24 months to eventually post out to positions that would fit me better.

Interview Question – Same standard phone-interview questions so many others have posted here... no surprises if you read the other postings and be ready to answer those questions.   Answer Question
