Care Manager--Care Giver at Sunrise Senior Living

No Offer – Interviewed in Sandy Springs, Fulton, GA (US) Feb 2013 – Reviewed Feb 20, 2013

Interview Details I was initially contacted and had a very short phone interview with a member of human resources at a particular location before being cut off (one of our phones). My phone did not save her number, and I attempted to get in contact with her over the next two days, only to be met with impatience and inconsideration by another staff member over the phone. I had multiple different people call me, all scheduling different interview times that conflicted with one another and leave messages, so I was confused as to when I was supposed to meet with their hiring staff. I again, was met with impatience and gross unprofessionalism in comments and behavior from staff, but finally settled on a date for this in-person interview.

I showed up to the interview 15 minutes early, dressed appropriately, with resume and cover letter in hand. I was greeted with a confused look and lack of enthusiasm/professionalism. I stated my name and purpose and was told that I was not supposed to be in that day. Turns out, I was confused with another applicant with the exact same name! She stated to me that they had my application on file, but that the staff I was supposed to speak with (about three people) all happened to sick on the same day and she had no idea when they were coming back or when I could speak to them. She simply handed me a business card and said that someone would get to me within the next few weeks. I was not called or informed of the change of plans, nor was I given an apology. Very disappointed. The facility itself is beautiful and has a very "homey" feel to it. The residents also seemed nice, but I did not have a great first impression of any staff members. I accepted another offer and will decline this offer should a staff member call me back about the position.

Interview Question – None--I was just briefly asked to sum up experience and given a short overview of job description and details and when I would be scheduled for an interview (That never happened).   Answer Question

Care Manager at Sunrise Senior Living

Accepted Offer – Reviewed Jan 20, 2013

Interview Details Called for an in person group interview. Verbal questions were a joke, my name and my favorite movie. I was interviewed by an outgoing coordinator so maybe that is the reason for the odd questions.
The indicative part of the interview was pretending to write a letter to a resident's family. That's where you talk about love for service, enjoying individual time etc
BUT I highly recommend you don't apply or accept a job at Sunrise

Interview Question – My favorite movie...made the interview seem like a joke   Answer Question

Lead Care Manager at Sunrise Senior Living

Accepted Offer – Interviewed on Kennebunk, ME (US) Jan 2011 – Reviewed Nov 06, 2012

Interview Details The hire process is long. From first application until actually working on the floor, it was 3 months. I actually applied twice, before being called. They are very slow to contact or follow up on applications. The people you need to speak with on the phone are never available to take calls. There's a lot of phone tag to get through. When you finally get an interview, it's with a group. They put on a good presentation. The second interview is done 1 on 1 and you get a tour. Then the third time you have about 4 hours of paperwork with HR. And finally you have about 30 hours of online training, before you can actually work on the floor.

Interview Question – Why you want to do this type of work? No thought put into this at all.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – There was no negotiation. They start all new people at that rate. So they say... I found out different later.

Wellness Nurse at Sunrise Senior Living

Accepted Offer – Interviewed on Katy, TX (US) Jun 2010 – Reviewed Oct 28, 2012

Interview Details The hiring process at Sunrise is extensive. You will initially attend a "group interview". You will meet with several members of management as well as other candidates applying to the community. If selected from the group interview, you will then attend an individual interview with the manager who is interested in hiring you. After this, you will have a "job preview" where you follow someone doing the job that you are applying for. If all of this has gone well, they will run a background check and send you for a drug screen. If you pass, they will extend an offer.

Interview Question – All of the questions are behavioral based. The questions vary based on the managers holding the interview, so make sure to stay focused and pay attention throughout the interview!   View Answer

Negotiation Details – I did not negotiate. I happily took the offer.
