Senior Business Leader at Visa Inc.

No Offer – Interviewed in London, England Jul 2009 – Reviewed Jun 01, 2011

Interview Details Interview consisted of 3 separate 1 hour interviews with HR and with 2 members of senior management. It was clear they were going through the motions despite me having the exact qualifications and experience to move in to this position. No feedback was given to HR by the 2 senior managers, HR took 6 weeks to notify me that I had not passed to the second round and their criteria for selection who went to the second round were based on one person only - very poor technique and very amateurish.

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Austin, TX (US) – Reviewed Apr 04, 2013

Interview Details Applied for job and was contacted by HR soon after. The HR person set up a phone interview with the multiple people including the hiring manager.

Interview was average/difficult overall. Job was offered and position accepted. But it was not what was explained or expected. And pay was barely comparible. Reconsidered acceptance.

Interview Question – Why do you want to work at Visa?   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – Pay and job not to expectations

Staff Software Engineer at Visa Inc.

Accepted Offer – Reviewed Apr 01, 2013

Interview Details I was contacted by a recruiter who saw my profile on LinkedIn and asked for a resume. The recruiter set up a phone interview one week later with 3 software engineers and a "Sr. Business Leader". The interview was very short (~20 minutes) and included a few technical questions. After answering some general questions about my experience, I was asked how comfortable I was with C++. It was a pretty good experience but two of the interviewers had thick Indian accents which I often struggled with. Also, I didn't get a chance to ask any of my own questions (of which I had many), which was a bummer. This was the first of at least two interviews, but I was given an offer after only the phone interview because I was able to answer the technical questions.

Interview Questions

Negotiation Details – I am currently negotiating.

Associate User Experience Analyst Intern at Visa Inc.

Accepted Offer – Interviewed on Austin, TX (US) Mar 2013 – Reviewed Apr 03, 2013

Interview Details I was contacted through my university career services office and the first interview was conducted on campus. I met with two people for about a half hour each. We talked mostly about my interests and knowledge of UX and design. I was asked to complete a few sketches of some rough wireframe ideas for a hypothetical design situation. I was invited for a second interview session about a week later that took place in the Visa Austin office. I interviewed from 9am-12pm with about seven people of different titles etc. Each interview was different but most seemed to be evaluating how I would fit into the UX team at Visa. I enjoyed the process very much.

Interview Question – Walk through an interface design you consider to be poorly designed and explain why. Then offer ten suggestions to improve this design.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – I did not negotiate because the offer exceeded my expectations and was for an internship position. The Visa HR team is extremely nice and explained everything very well.
