I said No, thinking that i should never be "okay" with it. He got upset and said that three out of ten is actually a lot. He thought he was a pretty important guy.

Didn't get this question, but I agree with the interviewer. Regardless what company you work for, the three customers that said yes could actually turn into repeat business or reccommend the company to others. On the surface 7/10 is bad, this is a trick question.

This isn't a trick question the goal is to get a yes even if it's 8/10 or 9/10 what you don't want is 10/10 that when its a no go.

3/10 can be translated into 30% market share which is rather satisfactory. Even 10% market share can be considered massive. For instance, within the Vehicle manufacturing industry, Toyota achieved a 9.2% market share in 2010 i.e. 0.92/10.
