Working at AHRC was challenging, but I gain knowledge in dealing with individuals with cognitive & physical disability.

I worked at AHRC New York City full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

If you've never work with disable clients before you will gain knowledge on how to handle them, & contribute to lodes of paper work. You may get the opportunity to visit other sites to see how they work, & you always get the opportunity to work directly with a Director in any site. It's a very open working environment that can get overwhelmed at times but over time you will get used to it.

    Cons

If you work directly with the individuals, it’s basically at your own risk, because you can get injured by an individual & because you sign several paper works absolving the company from any damages, you are left holding the bag, just because that’s a part of the job. Working with the individuals you know what to expect, but working with some of the employees can be challenging. Not sure why the big wigs make so many cuts that could benefit or give good employees the incentive to want to stay at the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to figure out a way to bring more money into your company so that it will not only benefit you or the work that you are trying to do for the clients that you service, but for the employees as well, that work so hard and have to deal with the issues you don’t have to deal with on a daily basis when dealing with challenging individuals.
