    I worked at AMRI

    Pros

    - Health benefits are still better than most but changes are coming.
    - Initial starting salary was good but you can only expect 2%-3% increases year over year.

    Cons

New CEO came on board January 2014 with a vision of becoming a billion dollar organization. Sounds good enough until you realize that AMRI doesn't have the technology to support the vision.

    - Most scientific equipment is old and outdated with no strategy in place to modernize facilities.
    - Discovery work in non existent because AMRI prices itself too high as compared to competitors.
    - Employees across the board are asked to save money and cut expenses but the company saw fit to open new executive offices in Mass. so the new management team doesn't have to commute from their Mass. homes to Albany, NY.
    - Organization is extremely top heavy as they bring on more and more VP's and associated admin assistants to service their needs. This goes on while many lower level managers/employees are tasked with doing the jobs of two to three people as a cost cutting measure.
    - Performance evaluation system and merit increase system do not promote or value high performers. If you are lucky enough to get an "Exceeds" in a particular year, you may get 1% more over somebody who simply "Meets Expectations".
    - The only long term strategy seems to be to acquire other companies to build up assets with no regard to actually integrating them. This coupled with moving from a CRO to CMO, and a lack of investment in infrastructure all smell of a future sale of the company.
