    I worked at American Apparel full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    The company are willing to take chances and encourage growth of the younger employees. Giving more responsibilities and management levels to employees who would generally not be classified as qualified the positions that they fill.

    Cons

    Unfortunately this development of lesser qualified employees generally haunts them. There turn over of staff is due to higher mismanagement. Incorrect training. Inadequate staffing levels. And over loading of work on a poorly paid work staff. The management who do show credential are generally given the poorer employees of other store to train, but this causes friction through all staff and overloads any adequate management. To much time is focused by districts and directors on appearance and the aesthetics rather than logistics and financials resulting in a very obvious loss of income.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Introduce a proper training system for all positions from floor level to management . Stop hiring under qualified personal for the important store supervisors and management jobs. And consider sorting out the outdated logistic and IT infrastructure before bringing multiple people for an already swamped marketing department.
