Former Employee - Bank Teller  in  Los Angeles, CA (US)
Former Employee - Bank Teller in Los Angeles, CA (US)

I worked at Bank of America part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    -Good job for students
-no work on sundays, saturdays off by 3-4, off major holidays
-good pay compared to other parttime jobs
    - guaranteed to work how ever many hours you applied for
    - after 1 year , you can get tuition reimbursement for related majors/coursework

    Cons

-dress attire is business casual (not a con for everyone)
-you need to be a VERY GOOD MULTITASKER you will be dealing with peoples money and you need to be accurate when counting their money, putting it away, entering it in the computer all while having a conversation with them and trying to get a referral.
-High pressure to meet your referral goals. Management will really be on you to make your referal goals. Referrals are when a customer comes up to your window and you try to match up their financial situation with a product that may suit them like a credit card or savings account. the referral only counts if they sit down with a personal banker. if they leave before they talk to a banker, it does not count and if you make an appointment for them and they do not keep it then it also does not count.
-If the position says bilingual preferred, I suggest you speak that language because although you will still be able to communicate with customers to process their transactions, the language barrier will make it hard for you to get a referral., and you need all the referrals you can get.
