    I worked at Caterpillar full-time (more than 10 years)


    High levels of knowledge throughout workforce, good remuneration if allowed to achieve it, good overall benefits package.


    Personal Development Plans being used as a tool to mark staff down in order to exert control unless favoured by management. People being promoted into senior roles in order to keep them in the business, regardless of their ability to manage people. HR department so decimated in recent years that it turns a blind eye to managers being less than sympathetic to their staff. Company talks a lot about caring for the staff but doesn`t show it and actually marks people down so they get a reduced bonus or no bonus at all at the whim of certain individuals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Come down from your Ivory tower occasionally and talk to the shop floor staff, and not just listen to the lackeys you usually surround yourselves with, then you may find out what is really the problem with the place.
