    I have been working at Foot Locker full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great people to work with on a daily basis. Many stakeholders in growing your future, it gives an employee many options when needing help. Working with a diverse group of customers. Decent pay if you stay around for more than a year and accept opportunities to move forward. Company has a great discount. Training is always changing to be more specific to the customers and operations. If you can hustle you can earn well over 10 dollars a hour for a first job. If you are lazy or work in a very small store you still should do better than minimum wage before you are terminated for poor performance. A huge company that loves to promote within.

    Cons

    Never given enough resources to do the job. The only way everything gets done at the store level is by managers wanting to work 10 extra hours a week to ensure all aspects of store operations are done. DM's can make or break you regardless of how good/poor your performance is. You will meet some of the most ratchet people who survive off Mcdonalds, yet they can get 300 dollars in shoes every week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    One of the core values is integrity. In my 15+ years of working for this company I have seen every executive over me have huge challenge with integrity. From creating hostile work places by spreading lies or rumors. To promoting people based on personal relationships and not performance. The problem is if you report these issues as I have in the past you can deadline your career for several years. I have trained assistant managers to store managers only to see them get promoted above my own position. While I am very excited to see these people progress, it does give me pause as to should I have kept glaring violations of company policy to myself so that I could move forward. I also believe that controlling expenses by cutting hours has hit a critical problem. When customers can outnumber employee's by 5-1 you lose business. A good analogy would be if you want to run faster shoot yourself in the foot. It does not make sense. I understand the principles of budgeting hours base off sales, I also understand something is wrong when a store like Shoe Show that has half the sales of the store that I manage, always has twice the employee's working.
