I have been working at Keiser University part-time

    Pros

Some great students who genuinely want to learn and grow and are moving forward with their lives in a better direction from poor past decisions. Some excellent coworkers who truly care about the students and one another.

    Cons

Other coworkers are a different story. Don't turn your back or someone may stick a knife in it. On the surface everyone is friendly, but the cliques are worse than high school. Management can and does play fast and loose with favorites. New people are given titled positions, their own offices and pay raises while people who have been with the company for years aren't even considered for those same things...unless someone in upper management likes them this week. Management favorites can come and go as they please and set their own hours and do little to nothing while others work 60 hour weeks and are paid for 30, which happens often. Students can and do at times come second to money, retention and financial aid. Be prepared to be questioned as to why if you fail a student and asked what you intend to do about it going forward to keep it from happening again as if it were your own fault that students fail.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set standards for student admissions. Work on admitting those who are actually somewhat prepared for college instead if anyone who is breathing and then blaming instructors when those same students can't do basic math or write a sentence. Promote people and give them positions based on their skills and proficiency rather than personal friends and favored people. Focus on retaining those faculty and staff who are dedicated rather than just those who pay lip service to the company or you will continue to have a revolving door of staff and keep wondering as to why.
