    I have been working at Lowe's full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    The company offers as much training as you are willing to take. They are very focused on their customers so your knowledge and ability to provide superior customer service is important, so they offer training. They also offer better than average wages, benefits, and quality of life for full time employment. The opportunity to move up is always present, but you would be crazy to want to.

    Cons

    As a manager, you are treated like dirt. It is all about the bottom line, which it should be, but you are the scapegoat no matter how hard you work. You could lead every metric the company measures you on, but if you are falling short on something you cannot control, you will be held accountable and all of the focus is placed on the 1 negative.. There has been a tremendous amount of turnover over the past 10 years within the ranks of store management, so a lot of the store managers are newer and are looking to promote their own careers. You will not get praise of your hard work and often times will take the blame for the bad and not be recognized for the good you do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The disconnect between the corporate office and the store is unbelievable. I've worked in both, at a very high level. We have placed too much trust in people looking to advance their own careers and not is hard facts. People push programs to make a name for them selves. Regardless of it's practicality within the store environment. Not all program- but a lot.
