    I worked at The Gap

    Pros

    I got paid. That is the sole benefit to working at GAP.

    Cons

    I worked at GAP for 2.5 weeks. I left when it became apparent that I wasn't going to receive training. It took 3 days for a member of staff to show me round the store and go through fire safety procedure. You are expected to become familiar with the store's product range and other policies at home, in your own time, without pay.

    I started working before Christmas, so was involved in a Christmas stock delivery. Over 200 boxes were delivered. 4 members of staff were working, but myself and another girl were expected to drag all of the stock to the stock room. I was constantly told to hurry up, despite pulling unstable loads taller than myself, around display units and clothes rails.

    They also don't give you till training until after your first month review meeting. I had the feeling they were going to fail me for not being trained, and therefore I left before it could happen. Another member of staff was recruited at the same time as me. She had worked for the company for 10 years before going on maternity leave. All of her training was completed in the first week. I was still waiting 2.5 weeks in. I felt discriminated against for being new to the company.

    *Do not make your staff do their own training at home
    *treat everyone the same
    *alter the wardrobe requirements
    *follow health and safety procedures
