Former Employee - Senior Lecturer  in  Luton, East of England, England
Former Employee - Senior Lecturer in Luton, East of England, England

I worked at University of Bedfordshire full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Some flexible working, though this is being eroded

    Cons

Poor to non-existant leadership, at all levels in most departments
    'Bums-on-seats' student recruitment philosophy
Workplace bullying rife, and unchallenged by HR
Complex bureaucracy and hierarchy militate against creativity and creative approaches to teaching
No upward career mobility beyond PL from within

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Flatten the hierarchy
    Address and eliminate bullying
    Develop leaders from within
Work with an action inquiry approach to overcome the above shortcomings

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
