Each year, we invest an average of over $4 billion in R&D, where more than 11,000 people are focused on bringing medical solutions to millions.
Everything we do is focused on a shared vision of better health for all. And we know we’ll only realise that vision by working with the most talented, most committed people in the world

I worked at AstraZeneca full-time (more than 3 years)Pros
Until Pascal Soriot joined the company as a CEO it seemed to be drifting towards a cheap acquisition. Then it all changed. He brought a genuine wave of fresh air, an great focus on science (as shown by the move to Cambridge), a sustainable and clear view for the future, confidence for workers transitioning to the new facilities and a very welcome "can do" attitude. Values are very much reminded and praised and importantly, prospects for the future are being validated by promising clinical trials data in congresses.
As far as R&D is concerned, research scientists are reminded that science is done at the bench - not in meetings that lead to unnecessary bureaucracy and useless losses of time. There is focus on attracting top talent (also form the Cambridge area), so the future is bright. In my view the move to Cambridge is saving the company.Cons
As much as in any other place, Senior Leadership views take time to trickle down the layers where petty politics and pathetic clique interests cripple and undermine their efforts.Advice to ManagementAdvice
Continue supporting Pascal's views, find and empower outstanding staff, give a serious top-down warning to "established" petty politicians, see if HR are doing their job as far as monitoring who ignores and mocks the company's values.RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEO
