I worked at Auto-Owners Insurance full-time for more than a year

Great work environment with great co-workers.

Work schedule is set and does not allow you to vary your hours much, and restricts overtime. It is also not the most engaging or challenging of jobs.

    Application Details

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Auto-Owners Insurance in August 2010.

    Interview Details

Very thorough. I met with HR, the President/Board Member of IT, and various managers. A bit repetitive in the information that I had to give, but overall, I could tell they really wanted to get to know me as both an employee as a person.

Definitely wear a suit. No short skirts. Tights are necessary if you wear a skirt. Ties are necessary if you're a guy.

    Interview Questions
    • There were no questions that tripped me up. I mean, do your research on the company and google "commonly asked questions." They will be SUPER impressed if you know their core values and can explain you've displayed them in previous positions/clubs/etc. Just do your research and you should be fine.   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
They start newbies off around $35,000. It's pretty simple. They aren't big on negotiations, but I did get $35,500 when I said I had another job offer. Be careful with that, though. They are very conservative so tread lightly when negotiating.
