I have been working at Columbus McKinnon full-time (more than 3 years)Pros
Decent pay for easy work. Feeling that I can count on the other guys on the floor. Semi-stable employmentCons
Union contract means nothing when management doesn't follow it anyways. Instead of doing what it says in the book, they will go by "past practice" - aka what makes them look best to corporate.
Mindset is not about the employees at all, only what will make management look best!! I would even call the treatment towards employees abusive. I know some of the past practices violate federal laws. And they wonder why employees are confrontational!
Management doesnt have a clue what is going on. This goes from Engineering to Human Resources to Operations. Wrong information is given if and when you get any information at all.
No praise or incentives for doing good work or more work than required. No reason to try to do well at all. I truly think both salary and hourly employees would flock out the door if given the chance to.
The list of bad things about working here is never ending.Advice to ManagementAdvice
Dont listen to management when they tell you everything is ok in Ohio. It's not. This was a short list of the things that are not ok in Ohio. To learn more things, come to Ohio when you say you are going to and actually talk to the employees without management around.
Employees dread coming to work for the terrible management in place, and they will do anything to stop you from seeing this, including firing the only salary employee who cared about us. Next time, fire the problems.Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEO

I applied through a recruiter – interviewed at Columbus McKinnon.Interview Details
The initial communication included a direct contact on LinkedIn from the recruiter. From here we moved to a series of phone interviews followed by a face to face interview with the recruiter and department manager. The recruiter was very personable and welcoming. She seemed very sincere in everything we discussed and was one of the nicest recruiters I’ve ever been contacted by in my professional career.Interview Questions
