Long working hours, lack of distinct culture, form over substance, pretend to be bigger and better than they really are

I have been working at Diamond Management & Technology Consultants

    - very quality driven organization, always strive to do the right thing by the client
    - compensation is on par with competitors
    - many smart people who are interesting to work with

    - small firm with limited opportunitties, especially outside of Chicago area
    - once you get on a project you are stuck on it despite it not being a good fit
    - extremely long hours including weekend work - supervisors send emails at 10-11pm asking for a turnaround by morning
    - work is not very interesting - not a lot of strategy related work
    - lack of standardization and teams need to re-invent the wheel on every project and it takes time and resources
    - extremely hierarchical, especially principals and partners
-it feels like a firm with an identity crisis and it apears that they are turning into a mini Accenture with delivery/execution focused projects taking the priority - only the firm has limited resources and knowledge assets to do a good job

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on IT Strategy work and play to firm's strengths, develop easy to use IC so that thw wealth of knowledge built up in the firm can be re-used
