Former Employee - Lead Machine Operator in Rome, NY (US)

I worked at NCI Building Systems full-time (more than 5 years)

the pros were the people you worked with everyday. most were actually genuine people.

i am now unemployed and on unemployment. when i went in for unemployment they showed me what the average was that ny state unemployment thought i should of been making running a rollformer. it was $19,88 an hour to start. after 7 years i was still $5 an hour under that. and i ran two lines and was the lead machine operator in my area. management talks to employees and treats them as if they are children and will downgrade you to where you feel you are nothing. they expect you to stay til all the work is done no matter what time so if you have a family forget about them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

the leadership that is in there now needs a lesson in how to treat as they say Valued Employees.

    Application Details

I applied in-person. The process took a dayinterviewed at NCI Building Systems in September 2014.

    Interview Details

I filled out a online application and was taken right to their test area. Was told if I passed to not to leave the building. Evidently they have problems with people passing. I started the test around 11 am passed it and headed right into the interview. Interviewer was polite and asked primarly questions on my resume. We then took a tour that lasted until about 3:40pm. He said he was thrilled to have talked to me and it was sheer enjoyment. I applied for welding because thats all they had but at the end he told me he would rather I be a supervisor. He listened and paid attention to the knowledge I have. Great interviewer.

It sells its products to contractors, developers, and builders. The group also provides steel coil coating, which is used by manufacturers of HVAC systems, lighting fixtures, and other products. NCI has about 30 manufacturing facilities in the US and Mexico; it also operates distribution and sales offices in the US and... More
